It's not made in the USA. The class a and some of the class b knives are made in the USA. The divergent is a class d knife and is made in Taiwan

Why don't they make it with decent steel?

for less than USD 30; I think this an outstanding value. AUS-8 is kinda like 440C in the USA. Higher grades of steel will cost alot more.
