While no longer the year of the dragon, this headset is still legendary.
As a long time PC gamer, this is probably the best headset I've ever owned. I've rotated through a lot of brands; Razer, HyperX, Skullcandy. But I think SteelSeries is where I'll be purchasing from for now on. I've had the headset so far for two weeks and have almost nothing but compliment to say about it. First, it's extremely stylish. Red is usually reserved for accents on gaming headsets, typically paired with black. But with the year of the dragon edition, red takes center stage and is instead accented with a beautiful gold color. Second, it fits perfectly and is comfortable to wear for extended hours at a time (so far I've had sessions of about 12 hours with it). The cuffs on the headset are very soft, but have a strong form as well so they fit great around the ear. And the top of the headset is cushioned with a soft fabric band. Bonus points for the band as it has a dragon scale pattern carved into it. Third, it offers a lot of versatility for connection methods. It includes a 3.5mm cable for wired connection, wireless connection via a USB-C dongle (which comes with a USB-C to USB-A adapter), and simultaneous pairing via Bluetooth. This means I have no problems using it with my phone, tablet, PC, laptop, steam deck, or even 3DS. Where it could improve is it's microphone. The microphone is by no means bad, but leaves a bit to be desired. Thankfully SteelSeries Sonar, the PC companion for SteelSeries' headsets, allows you to heavily customize your mic to your hearts content. You can use it to adjust the sensitivity, noise gate, EQ, and much more. Not only can you modify your mic, but the audio that you're listening to as well. The audio out of the box sound fantastic don't get me wrong, but SteelSeries Sonar allows you to modify the audio of whatever you're watching or playing, letting you fine tune if you want to hear more bass out of your music or better isolate footsteps or directional audio in your games. However, the headset can be used perfectly fine without SteelSeries sonar. I'll probably come back in about 6 months to update this review, as I've seen a few people mention long-term degradation of the headset. I'm so hoping this isn't the case, as this headset has blown me out of the water so far my expectations for it are pretty high.

Back with SteelSeries โ Still the Best for PS5 + Discord Combo!
After using the original SteelSeries Arctis Nova with my PS5 and iPhone for Discord chat, I knew there was no other option when it came time to replace them. The way they handled dual-audio made gaming and chatting seamless and I wasnโt willing to give that up. Just like the first gen, the audio is crisp, immersive, and consistently reliable. Whether Iโm deep in a game or chatting on Discord, the balance is spot-on. SteelSeries really knows how to deliver quality. I couldnโt resist the color on this newer version, modern, and stands out without being flashy. Itโs everything I loved about the original, just with an updated look. My only hesitation is with the microphone and mute button, as my first-gen headset had some durability issues over time. But honestly, I still came back because the overall performance outweighs that concern and Iโll gladly buy another (like I already have) if it ever comes to that. For the price point, it would be awesome if SteelSeries included a carrying case. Itโs a premium headset, and a little extra protection would go a long way. All in all, Iโm thrilled to be back with SteelSeries and using Discord again. Highly recommend for gamers who want top-tier audio and multitasking support.

Privacy Loses Again
I had an Arctis 7 Wireless that lasted ~7 years, maybe more. I loved the dual channel audio, and that headset was virtually perfect. I only bought a new one due to the old battery having issues, so naturally I thought the "same" headset would be great. And it would have. Steelseries is going down the same route as every other corrupt tech company. You have to have horribly inefficient software, developed by a team who can't even be bothered to effectively localize the UI, which also happens to just malfunction multiple times per day. For example, as I write this, I am fighting some outlandish, out-of-the-blue issue where the software sees it yet WILL NOT route audio to it. It happens frequently. FWIW, lifelong software engineer here, so you know this is not an overly harsh evaluation based on a lack of expertise. I know software, and I know when a team is lazily/sloppily contracted for a rushed product. Localization (and a lack thereof) is a massive indicator that they just hired the cheapest vendor they could to rush the software along. If that's not the case, it means THEIR OWN TEAM is that lazy and sloppy, which is arguably worse. If a company literally cannot be bothered to even ensure the product's language matches the AUDIENCE THEY ARE MARKETING TO, there is a problem there, no matter how you look at it. This headset is trash. I will never purchase anything Steelseries again. Keep your janky spyware to yourselves, I'll just use a headset that... works... You know, as in, audio comes out of the monitors? Yeah, that kind of headset, the functional kind. Protip: If you're going to spy on folks, maybe make your product WORK so there's at least minor incentive to stick around. As it stands, I have a pile of garbage that appears to be a headset. No thanks. Tags: Insecure, privacy, scam, garbage, buyer beware, where TF is this software sending all this data, janky, poorly designed, incapable, unrealistic, misleading, untrustworthy, deceitful.

Dragon Stylin'
I picked up this SteelSeries gaming headset primarily for its microphone, as I needed something that could minimize background voices being picked up during calls and streams. On that front, it performs reasonably well. While it's not quite the directional mic of my dreams (gotta break out the Yeti for that), it definitely helps to keep my in-room companions from becoming accidental guest stars. Plus, bonus points for the mic's noise-canceling capabilities โ apparently, my chewing is no longer public audio! No unwanted ASMR for you. Comfort-wise, these headphones are a win. I can wear them for extended gaming sessions without any discomfort. They're not particularly heavy. And let's talk about the style โ the interchangeable plates are a cool feature, but let's be real, the dragon ones are never coming off. They look fantastic and add a unique flair. Unless SS wants to come out with more dragons. ....could there be more dragons? Please? While not marketed as purely noise-canceling headphones, the sound quality is clear, and the directional audio works decently well, which is crucial for immersive gaming. I also appreciate the physical mute button on the headset itself, complete with a handy indicator light so you're never left wondering if you're muted or not. The wireless range has also been reliable for my setup. So far, battery life is great as well. The headset gives you a light indicator and the quick-charging thing did seem to work for me when I neglected to notice how low they were and plugged them in for 15-ish minutes to get back in the game. Wired mode does not seem to work for me though. However, it's not all fire and dragons. The biggest frustration by far is the dongle connectivity. It frequently disconnects or, even worse, sometimes powers on with the volume stuck at MAX. The only fix I've found is to unplug and replug the dongle, which is incredibly disruptive in the middle of a game or call. This inconsistency is the main reason for the slightly lower rating. I also feel like the mic wire is a bit fragile...being able to tuck it away is GREAT but I hate feeling like I'm going to break it every time I pull it out. Kind of a catch-22 there though, not sure how you'd fix it while also making it retractable. Another niggle is the earcup removal for cleaning. It's surprisingly difficult, and I was genuinely worried I'd break something trying to take them off. This is a shame because, despite my best efforts at personal hygiene (yes, I shower!), the earcups have gotten dirty faster than expected. Easier removal would make cleaning much less of a daunting task. To sum up... When everything works as it should, this SteelSeries headset is fantastic. The comfort, killer dragon design, clear sound, and decent mic noise-canceling make it a solid 5-star experience. However, the persistent dongle issues and the struggle with earcup removal bring the overall rating down to a 4 out of 5 stars. If you can tolerate occasional dongle hiccups and aren't overly concerned about deep cleaning the earcups frequently, these are a strong contender. Just be prepared for the potential need to unplug and replug that friggin dongle!

SO Close.
These are good for the PS5. Easy Connected. Does not noise cancel very well, or reproduce bass very well, but the easy spin dial to turn it up helps

Expensive But Great Quality.
I didn't like the price... for me it was a bit too high but after a few weeks of owning them they are impeccable quality. They have a nice weight to them they sound beautiful. You sound great in the microphone. Overall fantastic headphones. Super easy to connect and to navigate didn't need instructions to use my first time. I would recommend them. The magnetic plates that go on to headphones on the exterior are nice touch if you want to change tlthe dragon images.
