MUNGYO Gallery Artists' Soft Oil Pastels, 24 Assorted Colors - Professional Grade Oil Pastels for Artists

These pastels inhabit the upper rungs of the second tier of oil pastels available to artists. The first tier is occupied by Sennelier and Caran D’Ache’s Neopastel. Mungyo Gallery Soft Oil Pastels are superb in handling, opacity, and color range. But they require a leap of faith because they do not disclose pigment or lightfast information. This means that the serious artist takes a chance using them. That said, they are fun to use, they are cost effective, they make a great gift, and they have a delightful texture. They do what an oil pastel should do - they blend and layer well and all of the usual techniques can be employed. I simply wish that the company would provide good lightfast information and pigment information. Then they would be perfect. They are so close to perfect already. And this set ihas a wonderful selection to get started. Highly recommended.

These are amazing. So smooth, so easy to blend and gets incredible coverage. I was able to immediately make a lot of depth. If your not used to oil pastels (like me) be prepared for more impressionist style as it's harder to get the fine details at first. I do recommend a smudge tool, fingers are ok but it's harder to control and see what your doing. I hate the paper sticks so I got the hard tip sponge ones. The price is honestly great for how good these are. I will say do research on what paper type to use, I've found them harder to use on extremely smooth paper and overly textured watercolor paper. Find your own middle ground but do get a heavier weight paper as you will be applying some pressure to get a thicker application.

Haven’t really used oil pastels since I was a kid. Wanted to slowly get back into it as an adult. I really enjoyed these pastels. They are smooth and easy to blend. I also didn’t have any actual textured paper so I just used cardboard to practice on until I got some paper. I’d recommend especially for the quality and affordability.

I enjoy these oil pastels. They are soft, but not as soft Paul Ruben Haiya, which is a good thing if you’re looking for more detail. A good companion to add to my oil pastel sets! Happy with my purchase.👍

Great little set of oil pastels. These are the best I’ve tried other than Sennelier which are 10x the price. They are bendable, soft, highly pigmented and smooth. They go on very opaque which is great in comparison with most other brands.
