Does it work for small yards? The box says for "large lawns" Would I have to set everything to the min distance and lose the benefit of adjustability?

Accepted Answer

I guess it depends on how small your yard is. I've got a large yard, but am using this sprinkler to water only a 25x50 foot rectangular seedbed. With the sprinkler in the middle of this area, I've got it adjusted so the spray distance varies from about 13 to 25 feet. I think it could service an even smaller area if I turned down the water flow.If your yard is smaller, and is not very irregular in shape, you might want to use a small oscillating sprinkler. Keep in mind that impulse sprayers, like this Gilmour, are designed to shoot water fairly long distances because they aim in one direction at a time. The oscillating sprinklers provide more even coverage for smaller areas.

Question 2

Mine is shooting as much water out of the backside as it is on the lawn. Why is a strong stream of water coming off the back?

Accepted Answer

One time it was because the hose fitting was not perfectly round; it had been stepped on.  Hammering a metal cone (from a flagpole) into the fitting restored the fitting's shape.  Another time it was because the plastic channel in the sprinkler split; I had let water freeze in it.

Question 3

Are additional pattern rings available separately?  I'd like to save separate patterns for different areas of the yard.

Accepted Answer

The ring has 12 spots around the adjustment ring which can be moved up (to spray further and slower) and lower (to spray shorter and faster) as the sprinkler head cycles.

One can design almost an unlimited number of radial shapes or patterns to water.  Setting the shape is best down with the sprinkler running.  There's other adjustments possible at the sprinkler head to change dispersion of the sprinkler stream.
