IMO, this is best recommended way to buy new or upgrade existing Webroot licenses...
2025 Version Purchase : 5-device, One year Purchased this product in March 2025 to renew annual subscription w/ no auto renewal. IMO, this is by far the best recommended way to buy new or upgrade existing Webroot licenses is to purchase a new product via Amazon. Much like my latest 2026 review, Webroot products purchased from Amazon will NOT auto-renew like when purchasing thru other select third party vendors sites, even via the official Webroot site itself. Compatible with Windows 10 or 11, very easy to download and install, and you have at least 90-days of download protection from your Amazon software library in case you need to download product again for reinstallation, and your serial key remains in your Amazon software library forever. However, If you have this product already installed, no need to reinstall it again. Simply enter your new serial code it emails you after purchasing into the Webroot account settings under the Windows desktop app, then let it rescan your entire computer once, and you're all set and good to go!

Simple, user friendly, and exceptional
It seems like as time progresses, so does the ease of using Internet security and anti-virus software. I have used Webroot for almost 2 years now and greatly prefer it to what I was using before - Kaspersky - just because of the ease to set-up and use, and scans not taking too long. Granted I haven't had a virus either, but ultimately when compared with other programs out there,.this one does the job really well. *As a side note, I'd say this software is worth it when not at full price, but I usually wait to buy such things until I catch them on a sale. Like, now.

The best option for PC security available.
First, anyone having trouble adding this to their existing Webroot install is most likely confused. Continue reading the next paragraph if this applies to you or if you are just interested in the process, otherwise skip to the third paragraph to read my review. All that needs to happen once you purchase a new year (or two...but why would you do that?) of Webroot protection, you need to click/tap on "Returns & Orders" up top in the Amazon header bar, then click/tap the Webroot purchase and then click/tap the "go to software library" button. This will take you to a list of software you have purchased and on top should be the Webroot option you selected and purchased. Listed in the info of the product is a 20 digit keycode presented like xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx. Copy this keycode. Then open up Webroot, which should already be running in the background. If it is, the icon is hidden behind the "show hidden icons" arrow on the right of the Windows taskbar. Double click the icon and click on the settings gear to the right of "My Account" after the Webroot box pops up. Paste the keycode in the white keycode field under the "Activate a new keycode" heading. Click "Activate". You should see a popup telling you the code was applied and then your subscription days should reset to 365. You are done. Webroot is simply the best security software I've tried. I've used most of the others in the past and have experience with free versions and open source versions. Once I tried Webroot I never looked back. It's easy, light and good at catching stuff. I could go deeper into all of those reasons but if you really want a detailed comparison between the competition there are plenty of professional review/comparisons out there and I would suggest just searching for them. Each time I've personally done just that, I read the same conclusions over and over. Webroot is listed at the top in terms of protection and performance. Now as for my experience as a customer of Webroot, it's better than the rest too, but not without irritations. The first being the auto-renewal that somehow gets checked even though I would bet my computer that I unchecked the box. This is not unique to Webroot but no less infuriating (and scummy) if you somehow miss the single email they send reminding you they are about to charge you double what you can pay to get another year subscription. Lookout for that if this is a new purchase for you. I'm pretty sure it's happened once after just putting in a new keycode too, so my advice is just be aware this "benefit" might somehow get selected magically. Just the idea Webroot is willing to scam current customers with the auto-renewal makes me mad. There is no reason the auto-renewal can't reflect the actual going price for their software. If they are willing to sell it on their site to new customers for a discounted price they should be selling it at that price to the people who are auto-renewing. Again, this isn't unique to Webroot. In conclusion, if you need protection for your computer, in my experience this is the best option.

Don't buy for Win 7 OR Chrome Book
It doesn't say but the installer won't install on Windows 7. You have to CALL their support to get a Windows 7 compatible installer. Went back and forth with their online tech support before they told me to call in. Yes, I still run Win 7 because I have too many programs that won't run on 10 or 11. I have run Webroot for many years and it has been a good program, up until this year. After this fiasco, I'm a little apprehensive about its performance. ps. If you have an older version of Webroot installed, you can reactivate it with the new code without any installation. That would have helped me alot if the technicians had just told me that. 2026 addition, this absolutly sucks to try and install on a Chrome book

Great app, but they punish loyalty
Webroot is my antivirus product of choice, I've never had any problems using it. The only problem I have in general is that they punish loyalty by using a renewal option price that is twice what it costs if you just purchase the product new and install it as a new product. You can buy it new for $39.99, but it will cost you $79.99 to renew the subscription for a year once your initial subscription year expires. It's easy enough to enter a new key code on a computer, but to use your new key code on the mobile app for phones, you are forced to completely uninstall your current Webroot app, then install it again and enter your new key code upon the fresh installation. It's worth the extra 15 or 20 minutes to do it this way in order to save $40, but they've got the subscription model all wrong. They should offer loyal customers discounts to continue to use their product, rather than charging them twice as much than they would if you were new to their product and buying it as a new product.

Least Obtrusive Antivirus Program
I bought Webroot originally a year or so ago because of a good review in PC Magazine by Neil Rubenking. So this current purchase was to renew WebRoot (2nd Year). It's the least obtrusive antivirus program I've used. Likes: 1. Uses very little cpu power so there is little to no impact on system performance. 2. A full scan takes only a couple of minutes, so there is little impact on hard drive performance. Dislikes: 1. Once, it reported that it had quarantined a suspicious file. I searched and searched but could not find which file was quarantined. That is bad because, being unable to determine which files it was, I could never figure out where it came from which is very important. 2. Upgrade price through the program is more than double the price than to buy this new version here! Luckily, I was able to buy the new program here and enter the new serial key into the old program without a problem. But they could make this fact more obvious. Usually, the upgrade price for most programs is less than the cost for a new copy.
