I installed this in my 2005 bmw 325i e46. install took a good 30 minutes. I had to drill my own hole into the setup. Sound quality is amazing. this is a must have for music lovers. have been using this for a year and it still works flawlessly.

I’m a very handy guy to say first off. But the pins and cables were soldered incorrectly, colors were mismatched, and overall just very upsetting quality. After I rebuilt the cable the sound quality was decent and it functioned correctly. I will not buy ever again. Stick with bmw specific.

This product was a lifesaver for me. I own a 2003 BMW 330Xi that does not have an auxiliary option, forcing me to listen to the boring old radio or breaking out CDs that are 10 years old. After owning the car for about 6 months I got tired of listening to the radio and purchased an FM transmitter that connected my phone or iPod to the cigarette outlet, and used a "blank" station which I would set on the transmitter to play the music in my car. This worked at first until I went through about 5 of these gadgets in less than 3 months. I decided that I next would purchase a whole nre head unit to put in my car, until I was doing some research and found that my car radio actually had an auxiliary input in the back of the radio. I used this cable to install into my radio. It was very simple to do on my car after a few YouTube tutorials. Just make sure since this cable has a female end that you also purchase an auxiliary cord to connect from the cable to your device.

I followed some YouTube videos to get this installed in my 2003 BMW 325xi. Removing the trim and the radio is really easy, surprisingly (I've installed radios and alarms before and most dash trim causes problems the first time you work on a particular cat model. Not so with the E46).I had to try several different methods to plug the connector in to get it to work - on the left socket or the right, arrow at the top or bottom (there is an arrow molded into one side of the connector), and I thought it wasn't working because I never saw AUX mode come up on my radio. Finally I plugged my phone into the jack and tried playing music and - voila! Music was coming through the speakers from my phone, with the connector in the left socket (as you are looking at the back of the radio head unit), arrow at the bottom, and the radio mode displaying "CD 1-99". So, even though I had removed the connector that was there, which I believe was for the trunk-mounted CD changer (which the car has never had since I owned it anyway), the radio uses the CD changer mode instead of AUX. Whatever, I don't care, it works now and I know the CD 1-99 really means AUX. I drilled a hole in my ashtray and the metal cigarette stubber thingy and installed the jack. The dash all went back together even more easily than it came apart. Now I can listen to my phone/iPod any time I want to, and not have to suffer searching through the radio options available in central Nebraska (there are none). I was skeptical with the negative reviews but this device fitS and works perfectly in my 2004 325xi. Way cheaper than the $30 ones offered and the sound quality is great. Easiest audio adaption install I've ever done. Total 5 stars

When I received it the insulation was pulled away from the connector exposing the wires. Yes, it was in a sealed package - which means it came that way from the factory. The connector isn't keyed which means you can't tell if you have it in upside down or not when it's plugged in. Additionally - the connector that goes into the radio should be slotted so it locks into the factory BMW connector - it isn't, which means you can just pull this thing right out - nothing is holding it in place once installed. Of course after spending an hour completely dismantling my dash, drilling a hole in the ashtray to accommodate the female connector - the piece of &%$# didn't work. Truth be told I'm mad because I bought this from Amazon because it was on Prime, because I could get it in 2 days.. This is one of those Prime Products that was a piece of junk -- do yourself a favor, spend the money on the shipping and buy a quality connector.

This aux adapter works and I get good audio so I will give it 3 stars. I cannot give it 4 or 5 however, because there are a couple small details that makes it annoying to me and will eventually lead me to replace it soon. The first thing is that the radio doesn't give the aux option until your phone, mp3 player, etc is plugged in. This is annoying because it means that you have to plug your phone in and remember to change the input on the radio everytime you get in your car otherwise it wont play. This is annoying to me because I use the aux with my phone and my phone is set to play music as soon as a jack is plugged in. Which means that I used to be able to just get in the car, plug in the phone and start hearing music before I drive away. However, with the way this cord works, there is always a delay in plugging in the phone and the car detecting the aux (can take anywhere from 30sec-60sec) and that means that you are going to be subjected to the annoying noise (commercials, loud djs, etc) from local radio stations everytime you turn you car on (unless you turn off/mute your radio everytime you turn the car off.) The second issue is that I am unable to charge the phone while using this aux adapter. If I plug in the charger (from the cig light adapter in my e46) the aux input stops working. Honestly, I think both issues are caused by a possible grounding issue in the wire of this adapter. So, I will go for OEM before my next long roadtrip because I will defintely need to be able to charge my phone and listen to music at the same time.
