Like five generations of his forebears, hard-bitten Montana ranch patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner) has ridden herd on America's largest contiguous spread... but between his declining health, his emotional gulf with his willful kids, and ever dicier border dustups with the government, developers, and the neighboring reservation, the trail's never been harder. Taylor Sheridan's hit contemporary western from Paramount Network co-stars Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Kelsey Asbille, Cole Hauser.9 episodes on 3 discs. 7 3/4 hrs. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English. Review: Compelling and Amazing series - This is a mirror of the Western United States. While aging baby-boomers flee from high taxes and incessant crime in California, the diversity of our Nation's prideful Native American emergence via Casinos on Indian Lands, and finally a constant stream of wretched developers, developing for the unending wicked "transplants' who migrate to anywhere they can find their wicked solitude in developments which, deny the existing infrastructure, and want only what they had at home, "Yellowstone" portrays it all. I have to say this series is one of the best written and produced versions of a Television movie, since "Lonesome Dove". While the latter was about the migration of a group of cattlemen into a new and challenging land in the late part of the 1800's, this is about a Cattle Baron in Montana today, who easily could have had a heritage from one of those early founders. He in on attack from every side of a constantly burgeoning barrage of Capitalist developers, and Native Americans, who, enriched by the wealth of Casinos, also believe this is their ancestral land. They want it back, and not without reason. I have never seen such a fascinating montage of conflicting interests presented, with violence, yes, and complete familial dis-functionality. After seeing the first episode, I thought this was the closest film I had seen to the "Godfather", one and two. The next few episodes, filling in the history of Dutton, are little disappointing as they do not live up to the fury of the first, which is a rallying cry for the children to go to war for their Father versus everyone in opposition. Nevertheless, only having seen the first six episodes, Costner is at his "weathered" best as the patriarch, and all the cast are completely wonderful. I would highly recommend this mini-series, for its significant impact, and as a mirror of conflicting interests which now plague this beautiful and diverse landscape. Review: Great - Great

Best new drama on television
First off, pay no attention to the 1 star reviews being written by people who evidently don't know what the phrase "This program is rated MA and contains scenes of strong violence, language and nudity. Viewer discretion is advised" means. Good grief people, if you want a family friendly Western drama, rent The Swiss Family Robinson. Now then. This is the best drama on television IMHO. Unlike some shows like The Walking Dead, they don't make episodes just to fill time. The show is tight, and background information into the characters gets the job done without being overly drawn out. It's basically The Sopranos in Montana, with the Dutton family serving as your favorite good bad guys. Just outstanding and what basic cable could use more of. This season focuses on a ongoing land war between the Duttons, a Native American tribe leader and a real estate developer from California. And once more to the prudes who object to the clearly warned about language, violence and sex: my 70- something year old church going Aunt watches this show with my Uncle and they love it. Some of y'all need to relax...

Modern Western GREAT!
I loved the Yellowstone series. If you liked Dallas, you will love Yellowstone. It takes place in the northwest instead of Texas, but it is a family drama that does what it takes to protect their family. I will say that the language is rough at times. It isn't a "family friendly" show unless everyone is over 18. But they set up the characters and follow true to them thru the series season one and season two. I watched both on TV when it first aired. It was a type of show that you didn't want to miss. Always had it on DVR just in case I didn't get to see it "live". Now have Season one and Season Two already ordered. I really recommend it. It could be a good binge watching show.

Fantastic movie series.
The first season is a gift for my husband. The series is very intriging. Beautuiful landscape. It is gross, gruesome, heartbreaking but very interesting story line on the big corporate/political, big rancher, & Indian relations from years ago to today. How families exist in these troubling times on all levels. An eye opener for sure. We also have Season 2 & are waiting for Season 3 to come out so we can buy it. A must buy. Truly amazing. It makes you not want to watch but luresyou back to discover what happens to all involved. Wow P&P Andrews

A great modern western
Step by step, Taylor Sheridan is gaining a worldwide reputation as the author and movie director on modern western genre. Obviously he knows the country and its people, the ups and downs of living there and his films are strikingly realistic. This new series Yellowstone allows him to deepen the stories, the characters, the landscapes in an overwhelming saga of the New West vs the Old West. Filmed on location with a wonderful cast headed by Kevin Costner, ageing very well, Yellowstone is certainly one of the best TV shows around. It is thus impossible to understand why Yellowstone has not been issued in France where there is a strong number of western buffs. Meanwhile it would be nice if the US DVDs would feature French subtitles on those series.

Yellowstone is riveting
What a great opening scene in season one. I'm so glad Kevin Costner decided to make a series for television and Yellowstone is a perfect format for him. His character is challenging, but he pulls it off without a hitch. All of the characters are intriguing, but it's Rip that grabs you with his dark side and his devotion to the Dutton family, especially Beth. Whoa, Talk about a bad ass! That's Beth. I also purchased Season Two and it wowed me even more that season one. I've got season three on order. We're waiting on pins and needles for it to be released.

Perfect Deal
Great Dealer, thank you. Got the Blue Ray disc without RCE, it is fine running with my player in Europe. The story is good as I expected, watched some trailers before. I propose to switch on the subtitles for non English mother tongue viewers. Frank

Great show
Bought in the UK. Quick delivery and it worked on my UK DVD player, PS3. I was concerned I might have to buy a multi region player. Now looking forwards to season 2 release.
