Like every quality crimp, prep work is necessary
First time repairing my premium battery jumper cables. Crimper worked well on #10 AWG stranded copper cable. Don’t forget a heavy duty set of cable cutters for a clean cut. Having plated ferrules helps too. Remember to slide on heat shrink before you crimp. Having a light duty crimper for heavy cable helps position and pre-crimp the ferrule in place so you’re not juggling everything at once with the heavy duty hydraulic crimper.

Just remember the paperwork
Easy to use, must keep the paperwork to know what size is what, the only complaint is that the guages should be on the die

Solid Hydraulic Crimper for Reliable Heavy-Gauge Connections
I ordered this hydraulic crimp tool for a camper van electrical build, where I’m running larger gauge cables for the main power distribution and battery systems. The tool operates smoothly and generates strong, uniform crimps that easily meet the mechanical integrity needed for high-current connections. After testing several terminations, I couldn’t dislodge a single one through pull testing, which gives me confidence in the electrical reliability of each joint. The die selection takes a bit of interpretation since the included dies are marked in millimeters rather than AWG sizes. A conversion chart or quick online reference helps pair the right die with the correct cable size. Once you identify the proper die, setup and operation are straightforward. I preload the lug slightly to secure it in the jaws, insert the stripped wire, and then complete the crimp using a tabletop for steady leverage during the final pumps. The hydraulic action requires minimal effort compared to manual crimpers and delivers consistent, repeatable results with a professional finish.

Really helpful.
Really nice to have. It’s fairly rare that I actually need a hydraulic crimper for wiring things. Most things I do are small gauge or residential stuff around my house. Recently I had to replace my battery terminals and the ratcheting crimper had no chance of crimping the connector i bought. It was too small and not enough mechanical advantage to get a strong crimp. I didn’t even have to try to make the crimp with this tool. The hardest part was holding the tool as it is heavy - how it should be too. Besides that I am actually finding a lot of uses it’s not meant for but excels at. Pinching metal over a fold, holding taps for making threads in stuff (wrench broke) fixing a telescoping magnet grabber took, smashing the fingers of my arch nemesis, and so much more. At the end of the day, it’s a small hydraulic press with dies you can use on crimps. It is a useful and versatile tool.
