Says almost nothing about the HANA DBMS
If you're looking for any information about the actual HANA DBMS, this is the wrong place -- what information is in here wouldn't make up a thin pamphlet. What this book most resembles is a glossy, bound packet of sales material, all rah, rah! about the SAP product line with lots of pretty screen shots of utilities, but with precious few facts about the supposed subject. I realize this book came from SAP Press, but I thought they might have tried to at least make it useful. Given the rather scanty nature of SAP's on-line English documentation, there is a real need for a book that actually describes SAP HANA. Pity it isn't this book.

Great all-in-one reference
Very helpful book as a primer on HANA, written in a way that makes the benefits easy to understand for a layperson, and also as a reference guide for technicians who are working with HANA.The first section of the book is focused on describing in easy language how HANA works, how it can integrate with a company's existing data infrastructure, the effects it can have on how a company operates, and the business case for implementing HANA; useful information for upper management when considering a technology upgrade. The book then moves into more in-depth instruction, including planning, migrations, data modeling, provisioning, administration, and tools associated with a proper HANA implementation. An important, go-to resource for anyone involved with HANA.

This book is a must read by anyone in the IT industry that is considering SAP HANA for their company. The book is simply divided into two sections: First the What, Why, and When and the second is How. In the What, Why and When you get an excellent overview of in-memory computing and what a HANA solution looks like. The second section, How, covers the remaining book which provides examples that will answer many of the questions around HANA while providing hands on examples.
