I love these shoes, but haven't really tested them.
This is my first purchase from Altra. I was drawn by the look of this shoe which is why I bought them. So comfortable right out of the box! The cushioning is perfect for me. I have plantar fasciitis so my feet get sore and achy after exercise and being on my feet for long periods. These shoes reduced that significantly. Unfortunately, I have mostly worn them casually because shortly after buying them I had a knee scope and haven't been able to take them on the trail yet. I did, however, wear them for a couple rounds of golf before the surgery and conclude they are more comfortable than any of the 3 pairs of real golf shoes I own. The lugs aren't great for greens though. I'm a heavy guy and left imprints on the soft greens. I wish Altra would make this shoe with a golf course friendly outsole. I was also going for walks on an asphalt and composite decking pathway, which could get slippery in the morning dew, and the outsoles provided pretty good slip resistance on that wet decking material. I haven't owned them during the hot summer weather, so I can't speak on the breathability aspect. I feel that if paired with the proper socks, the breathability will be fine. They are light weight and I like the large toe box for my slightly wide feet. Even though they have the wider toe box, they don't look like clown shoes. The color combination is pretty awesome. I should be back on the trail this spring to test them off road. I definitely will purchase more from Altra in the future.

Good Shoe But Wide Toe Box Does Not Equal Wide Shoe Fit
Great walking shoes. I like the wide toe box even though it looks a little funny. The shoe is still fairly narrow in the middle so if you have wide feet like me this shoe does not feel like a wide sized shoe. I have only had them for a couple of weeks but so far so good.

Use the runner's loop in case of heel slippage!
When I put them on and walked around a bit, I was sure I would have to return them because my heels kept slipping out with every step even though they fit well otherwise and are quite comfortable. Btw my heels are extremely narrow, but I saw other reviews mentioning this issue. If your heels are slipping out, look up "runner's loop". After putting in a runner's loop, they feel nice and secure. They have a bit more cushion on them than I am used to with trail shoes, but they're not obnoxiously high like some Hoka "trail shoes" I tried on at the running store. As for sizing, I had my feet scanned at the running store a couple weeks ago and bought some Altra Experience Flow 3 road shoes. I was 8.9 D. I bought 9.5 in those shoes and they fit perfect, so I figured I would be safe getting the same size in these shoes. I'm actually not sure yet if I should've gone with the 10. After putting in the runner's loop they're pretty tight! I do have just barely a thumbnail of space between my big toe and the shoe (which is what you want). I think they fit pretty well. Hopefully they won't feel too tight why after a few miles on the trail. You should generally get .5-1 size larger than your regular shoes when it comes to running shoes. That definitely applies with these as well. Edit: I just ran a couple of miles in them on a pretty technical trail and they felt good and fast. The tongue slipped a bit from the middle by the end of the run though. And when I tried to do a bit more of a run on pavement after I came out of the trail, they didn't feel nearly as good

What's not to like?
Really like the build, comfort, support and look of these trail shoes. Great value vs. others.

Helped Plantars Fasciitis
Bought these after being recommended by my sister who had foot and ankle pain. Got Plantars Fasciitis in my left foot bad (I work on concrete all day). I tried new Merrels with plantars insoles, but the pain was returning, so I gave these a try. Plantars started receding the 1st week wearing them. A month and a half in, and all Plantars pain is gone. I am using the stock insoles. Super light, very comfy shoes, breath well, color looks good. I'm a 10 in most shoes, and a 10 fit me perfectly (I like the wider toe box too). I will be buying another pair or two to keep in the closet until these wear out. Highly recommended.

A great introduction to wide toe boxes.
I think I've run in every major brand. I can say these are a great shoe for a casual runner or someone looking for a wide toe-box daily shoe. Altra has always been an odd shoe for me. When they fit, I usually like them, but their fit has always been weird and inconsistent across models. This shoe is true to size and it's raised heel will make it an easier shoe for someone coming from "normal" running shoes. Another weakness with Altra has been it's heel cup and this is an improvement, but still not great. I find myself lacing the extra eyes, to pull my heel back into the shoe. I haven't taken this out in the rain a lot, but compared to the Brooks these replaced, the grip is far better and these do great in loose soft soil and scrambling granite cliffs around my place. The only negative, I have found is they are showing a lot of wear in the reinforcement areas around the toe box. These shoes have lived a pretty pampered life, compared to other shoes and I'm a little disappointed to see this. I will update this in the winter once I few a more miles and I've strapped ice cleats to them.

Super cómodos, no ampollan
Son perfectos. Los Mont blanc me sacaban ampollas porque quedan flojos, pero este modelo amolda perfecto el pie y el agarre del tobillo, y el Drop es ideal para terrenos difíciles en trail running. Super recomiendo!!
