Easy Setup with a Crisp Display
This camera was great. I ended up using it for a camera on the front of my truck as I can't see what is in front of me. The camera mounted super easy with two bolts on my license plate. It was easy to wire to the battery. It worked straight out of the box. I ended up have a lot of extra wiring due to the way I mounted it, but it was easy to zip tie to the engine to keep tucked away. The extra length will be nice if I ever decide to move it. The screen is clear even in dim lighting. It has the ability to connect 2 cameras, but I only have the one. It plugged in via a USB-A cable. Since I had a USB port available, it was easy to plug in. However, if not, I would have had to buy a two USB port charger, so I am not sure if I prefer the straight USB or the 12V charger. Overall, I like the quality of the camera. It has been great so far the past couple of weeks that I have owned it. The one thing I didn't like as much was a red light that stayed on on the monitor when plugged in. It would take forever to drain a battery, but as long as I drive on a regular basis it shouldn't be a problem.

Seems GREAT so far, and fairly easy to install!
UPDATE 4/2/26: Camera's been GREAT! 4.5" model. Night vision seems fine. The adhesive for the dash mount failed on the very first warm day! I got a GPS beanbag mount on Amazon, and it's working great. See picture of beanbag mount. Overall I really like this camera. It was just released for sale roughly October 2025. I will update this review if anything changes. Auto Vox responded to my message and sent a PDF of the manual, see attached, and also attached a short video I took to this review. I have the 4.5" model, I think the 5" model has slight differences, one difference being the power cord for the 5" screen ends in a cigarette lighter plug, and the power cord for the 4.5" screen ends in a USB-A plug. The night view in my experience is fantastic, see attached two pictures taken in total darkness. There's a quality control inspection label (QC) covering what WOULD be a slot for an SD card, except this model has no SD card slot on its circuit board. If you try to insert an SD card into the slot it will end up rattling around inside your screen! The guidelines can be shrunk and enlarged, I like the largest setting so far, shown in my video. There is no on/off switch, when the camera is powered by the reverse light, the screen comes on. This is well thought out and works well this way. It takes 3-5 seconds for the screen to come on, the picture seems very clear. Some customers will not like the red lit LED when the screen is in standby. The power cord from the screen is hard wired at the back of the screen, and the wire ends in a special 4-pin round male connector. Then they give you a cord with a special female round connector on one end, and a USB-A connector on the other end. This is a weird setup for the screen power. A female USB-C connector on the back of the screen would have made a lot more sense. I'm trying the mount for the screen included in the kit. So far it seems well designed to take up a small space. I didn't want a suction cup mount or vent mount (like used for cell phones), so we will see how the adhesive mount supplied works out. Everything seems pretty good so far, we will see how it holds up.

Good Product but No Adapter to Power from Fuse Box
I like this camera system. The wireless connection solved some concerns for installation. I would give it a high 4 stars close to 5 as it is good for the price (especially with a $30 Amazon Coupon). I think the image is reasonable for an inexpensive system and it provides enough image for backing up safely. The night image is good enough too (black and white). However, the description states the monitor can be powered by a fuse box. I'm sure it can but the manufacturer does nothing to make that reasonable. The only power you can get is from a cigarette lighter adapter. The manufacturer does not provide a connector with any tinned wires or other means to connect to a fuse box or anywhere else and the plug to the monitor is tiny and non-standard so you can't simply try to make one yourself. You would have to cut the cord from the cigarette lighter adapter then figure out which tiny wire you need to connect to power and ground. No help from the manufacturer there either. And hopefully there aren't any other wires that you mess up because it uses a four-pin connector. Not wanting to risk that I'd damage the thing, I simply am plugging it in with it's far oversized cable. I now notice that another buyer mentions the same thing in a video he posted. Seems like he will gamble and cut the power cord then wire it in. Hopefully he provides some feedback about his experience. While I won't go so far as to call the description for this device as deceptive, it is careless and should provide more details. UPDATE: I received a response from the manufacturer to my review. They indicate they will improve their instructions in the future. In the meantime this is what I was told: "After cutting off the cigarette lighter adapter, you will see one red wire and one black wire, then connect the red wire to the accessory power fuse and the black wire to the ground. Cutting off the adapter does not invalidate the warranty. " Hope this helps anyone who wants to hardwire the display to a power source at the fuse box. There certainly is enough cable. As a result I've upgraded my rating to a solid four stars. The camera is working fine.

The camera works well and the support behind it is excellent
I recently installed the Auto‑Vox 5‑inch backup camera (model XG‑W12) on my 2008 Ram truck with an 8‑foot bed and canopy, and I’m pleased to report that the camera works excellently. The installation process was straightforward, and the customer support I received made all the difference. I mounted the camera on the license plate bracket, then removed the rear taillight to connect the camera’s positive wire to the positive lead for the reverse light. After drilling a small hole, I attached the ground wire securely to the truck body. With the wiring complete, I plugged the power adapter into the cigarette lighter—but the plug didn’t light up, and the monitor stayed off. A closer look revealed that the spring at the tip of the power plug wasn’t functioning properly. I reached out to Auto‑Vox customer service and began corresponding with Kira. I sent her a description and a photo of the issue, and within a few days she arranged for a replacement power plug. The new plug powered the monitor immediately, but the camera still wasn’t displaying an image. Kira then walked me through how to test my wiring using a multimeter. She suspected a grounding issue, and she was right. I removed the ground connection, sanded the paint down to bare metal, reattached the wire, and confirmed a proper reading of 11.75V. After that, the backup camera worked perfectly. I’m happy to report that Kira provided outstanding customer service—clear, detailed, and genuinely helpful. Her guidance made it easy to resolve a couple of minor issues and get the system working exactly as intended. If you’re considering Auto‑Vox products, I highly recommend them. The camera performs well, and the support behind it is excellent.

Good item, easy to install, good picture and size of view is decent,I would purchase again if needed, let's a vehicle with no backup camera possible.

Works good👍
It just takes awhile to locate and confirm the reverse wire on the back of the vehilce, otherwise it works good. I added a magnet to my camera so I can attach it up on my tailgate at a desired height for hooking up an RV hitch with an easy disconnect for only when I want to use it. Saves from having it vandalized or accidental bumping it, since the camera is a light duty conection.

AVOID — damaged reverse lights
PLEASE: Do yourself a favor and do not buy this camera. I connected the camera to the reverse lights in a 2013 Toyota Camry following the provided instructions. The camera worked… for two weeks. One day the camera feed stopped showing up on the monitor. I checked the reverse lights, and they also weren’t working anymore. It seems the quick-splice taps provided by the seller damaged the wiring to the reverse lights, causing a short circuit / blown fuse. Looking back, I shouldn’t have used the quick-splice taps — they’re easy to use but really not ideal or dependable in the long run. I only used them because they were provided in the box and nobody was around to stop me. So it goes. For those still interested in purchasing this camera despite my warning: Don’t use the provided quick-splice connectors if you can help it — get proper connectors. Also: when the camera WAS working, the display was pretty good, though there was a slight delay in connection between the camera and the monitor when putting the car in reverse (5 seconds or so before the camera view would show up on monitor), which was to be expected. Not much else to say other than that if you see a 2013 Toyota Camry with broken reverse lights, please stop and say hello :)

Good little camera for slow speeds
I had no experience installing these, I just watched YouTube videos until I was confident. Install on a 2004 F150 SCAB was easy. Mouting the camera was easy given it was a truck. I wasn't 100% sure which was the brake light and I didn't have a tester so I set my phone up to record my tail light - put truck in reverse - bottom one is it :-). Then I watched a video how to take the taillight out so I didnt brake anything. I used the included quick connectors to connect the black (ground) to the black wire for the camera. The other wire was the power wire and with there only being two wires I knew to connect it to the remaining wire. I plugged the head unit in to cigarette lighter for now and it worked. Thats all there was to it. I have noticed after going through a car wash there will be water spots on the camera. No real way around that until it dries but it does mess with the vision. Later when I get more connectors I'll try to hook it up to a power wire at the head unit instead of cigarette lighter. The screen is a little delayed but if you need a backup camera for hitches you aren't going to be backing up that fast to begin with. If you want no delay I suggest you buy one with a wire you have to run the length of the vehicle. I for one was not up for doing that. Good little camera for just hooking up to trailers. Edit: I eventually put a touch screen radio in the truck and hooked the power for my backup camera to the power wire for my new radio. No issues with it other than the suction cup sucks. I ended up buying a magnetic dash phone holder and mounting it that way.

Amazed by this
I’m honestly amazed by how easy this backup camera was to install! The 2-step setup really is as simple as they describe — just plug the monitor into the car’s USB port and connect the camera to the reverse light. Took me less than 20 minutes, no complicated wiring or tech skills needed. The 1080P HD quality is excellent — super clear and sharp, both during the day and at night. The color night vision surprised me the most; I can actually see details in dark driveways that my old camera never showed. The wireless signal is strong and stable, no lag or freezing even in tight parking spots. It’s also completely waterproof (IP69K) — I’ve driven through heavy rain and muddy roads, and the view stays crystal clear. Plus, the custom settings like brightness, guide lines, and image flip make it really flexible for any vehicle. The customer support team is fantastic too — quick, friendly, and available anytime. Overall, this is an amazing value for the price — easy to install, reliable, and super clear quality. Highly recommend this for anyone who wants a stress-free upgrade to their parking and reversing setup!
