These intumescent strips with smoke seals are easy to install and do the intended job.

Sticks so well it’s a one shot deal so don’t try and pull it off to adjust as it tears. The strip glows well enough to make out the edges of an internal corridor in total darkness and recharges in seconds after exposure to light. One of the best strips I’ve used.

You get enough to go around a standard door frame with a little extra - fitted ours to a Wickes Ply Veneer Fire Door (30). Intumescent strip is decent and brush gives it the expected “fire door” sound when it closes so you can tell it’s doing the trick. Only issue is the adhesive strip simply isn’t strong enough, so the seal peels off at the edges almost instantly - just be prepared to nail it in place at any edges though and you’ll manage fine. Also if your door doesn’t have a few mm clearance at the sides/top you may need to plane the door edges or the strip will prevent that door from closing!

This is a product sold to protect people from fire and smoke. After following all the preparations on how to clean the area etc the seal started to completely peal off after 15 mins of application. It does not even deserve one star but you have to give a rating to submit a review. This product is sold on many websites as I work in manufacturing and shipping is the product being stored incorrectly as to why the glue element is faulty on many reviews. Very disappointing do not buy.

It’s easy to fit but doesn’t stick so well. Had to trim the door to get it to close again, the door had 3mm clearance around out before hand. Had to adjust the hinges as they flexed with the strip in. Will have to glue the leading edge, it just doesn’t stay stuck down. Overall disappointed as it was meant to be less work, wish I’d used a router and sunk one into the door, would have been quicker and easier in the long run.

I had to find a solution quickly to make my newly installed front door compliant with fire safety regulations. This is great if your door didn’t come with a seal and you don’t want to spend a fortune. At first it made it a little harder to shut the door but don’t worry after a few days it goes back to normal and you won’t even notice the difference. Fire safety check passed.

1. Sticky is not great. 2. Protrudes too far so door catches on the frame. I had to remove after applying one strip as it’s too thick to allow the door to close.
