Tamiya 87038 Extra Thin Cement Glue Fine Tip 40ml

Arrived a day ahead of the projected delivery date. My first time using the thin cement vs standard Testors cement. A real game-changer for those parts that take a lot of manipulation to get into place and just make a mess to put cement on first. Dry fit the parts, get them just right, and then the built in brush applicator is perfect to get a tiny bit of cement in just where you need it. I wish I had known about this 45 years ago (did it even exist then?).

After several years of being too busy I finally retired and returned to the world of model building. I was away for 3 decades so I was Amazed at the leap in quality, variety, and just plain fun offered today. The glues being used today are so superior to what they once were that it is hard to imagine what I did before. This is just one purchase of one type of glue but I can tell you the quality and ease of use is huge! On a related topic, all of Tamiyas products exceed my expectations from the variety of glue, tools for modelers, instructional materials and all their offerings. The quality and variety of their acrylic paint alone boggles my mind. There are other companies out there such as Vallejo, Ammo, and many others offering outstanding kits that this a golden age for modeling. I was lucky to have been around for the “olden days” of questionable scale details and tubes of thick gummy glue and highly viscous enamel that I can really appreciate the newer stuff. Great job with the glue- and everything else.

This is a thin glue. It will disappear if you leave your lid off. It will leave no blobs of glue once it dry. It holds a few seconds after to connect the items. I not sure what the max weight It will hold. But surface area is key to hold. Fast to dry so you need to move fast as I timed to glue. And a drop of glue gives to less than 10 seconds. About 8 if you must know. It was winter so air was 80° and maybe 15% humidity.

Arrived not fully tightened and could smell the glue through the box. While Tamiya is a great company, they should make sure their caps are fully on to prevent leakage.

This tightly sealed container has a long shelf life, I've had a bottle of it sit for two years and still be good to use. Easy to use, put some on plastic piece and press against another piece. Reapply more to the joint with pressure to firmly affix the parts. There is enough in this bottle to assemble many miniatures, ~2k pts Warhammer 40k. Compared to the citadel brand this costs less and has more. Dries and cures quickly while still having a decent working time. Biggest con: The smell. The container when open will be pungent with the acetone scent. Use in a ventilated area and screw brush cap back on when not actively gluing to help with the smell. If the smell is a major deterrant for you look into a company that sells a straw applicator like Testors or Citadel. These will contain the smell much better but I have had difficulty with the glue flowing too quickly and being uncontrollable with these bottles.

So good. SO GOOD. Great value for great quality. Always happy with Tamiya products. As advertised bottle size that will last a good while, depending on how hobby-mad you are. The bond strength is phenomenal. I use it for WH40k and other hobby miniature making. It’s a bit whiffy so don’t breathe too much in (work in a well ventilated area if you can, or wear a mask for those late night “gotta finish my army before that game tomorrow” kind of session.) I may have got a bit lightheaded/headachy in times past. Mayhaps. I prefer to use this on plastic minis whenever I can because of the bond. Working time is much longer than superglue so you can move things around. If you mess up (frequently, if you’re like me) you have time to pull apart/correct before things solidify. Highly recommend.

This glue arrived extremely well packaged and the top was so tight I had some difficulty opening it. While the smell is significant, it is not overpowering and similar to other glues that I have used. It is my perception that those who say this glue does not work are not using it correctly. While if you work extremely fast, you can put glue on both parts and then press them together. However, this is not how this glue was designed to be used. Dry fit the two parts together and then paint the glue on either side of the joint. The glue used capillary action to flow into the joint and dries fairly quickly. Any glue left on the surface...whether the back of front...will evaporate in a few minutes and leave no mark This is why it doesn't work as expected if it is placed on both sides of pieces yet to be pressed together. If you work at all slow, it simply evaporates and glues nothing. Frankly, it is amazing and leaves no residue or marring. If I can't get at the joint, I simply use more common plastic cement as I have for years, but this option is certainly attractive to me. Even some "How to" videos get it wrong. Be careful what you watch and follow correct directions and you will be very pleased with this product.

It's easy to apply, and the smell isn't too strong. It's saved me from several minor accidents with my model kits. It's a good quality glue, durable, and works quite well overall. I think it's an excellent product for the price. It doesn't leak.

Si vous avez ce problème c'est que ce que vous essayez de coller n'est pas du plastique. Ce produit fait son travail, à savoir fusionner 2 morceaux de plastique ensemble. Ce n'est pas de la colle, donc si vous essayez de fixer quoique ce soit autre que du plastique, ça ne fonctionnera pas. En revanche, pour le plastique, c'est parfait. Ça colle les morceaux ensemble très vite, et c'est résistant. Des fois je me rends compte que je tiens tout le modèle par un tout petit morceau que je viens de fixer, et ça ne semble pas poser de problèmes.
