Clever space-saving design
Although I was skeptical the Loft laundry drying rack does work. It is well-made. It is also expensive solution to finding more space in the laundry room. It is easy to hoist up or down. I found that I could hang a couple of prs of blue jeans, small towels, sox, etc so it does have OK capacity. Because it's only suspended from 2 ropes, I have to balance the wgt of the garments as I put them on the rails. Otherwise the device tips and things can slide off. My husband had no trouble assembling the unit--putting together the rods and pulley system. It was not so easy to install: you need help--a ladder of course; a stud finder, and an electric drill etc to mount it on the ceiling. I don't think it's a one-person job esp. if you are not accustomed using tools or doing this kind of handywork. In another home, we installed a more simple stainless rack which mounts to the wall. It folds down flush when not in use. It has less capacity, but cost only $20. at Ikea. If you don't need the larger capacity to hang dry this is an excellent option for a fraction of the price. I am very happy with it.

Very practical, good quality, smooth operation. Super satisfied with this.
I have had this for more than a year now. It is wonderful. I have it over the bathtub in the spare bathroom. Any dripping goes directly in the bathtub. The pulley system works very well, and keeps working well after heavy use. The amount of drying space is quite a lot. I have also dried sweaters, by putting them on top of the bars, with good result. Since it get raised overhead, it takes 0 storage space. It goes high enough that it does not interfere with the shower. And, I usually load it and then raise it, so the bathtub is usable even when the bars are loaded with laundry. Perfect for my household. Edited 1/20/15 : We moved, and this did not fit in my new, smaller bathroom. No problem, we were able to remove a section of the bars, and now it works like new in the smaller space. Very pleased.

FAIL - hardware does not fit - you must purchase different hardware
FAIL. Essential hardware does not fit on the tubes....therefore it means a trip to Lowe's or Home Depot or your local hardware store to find a replacement that will bridge the gap. This is a fail in my book, because for me, even living in town, that's a 40 minute proposition. Fortunately I had a box of spare bolts and nuts and could find a replacement that was long enough to work. What was provided did not even come close. I say to them: first priority always, check your engineering specs and keep on testing your models as they come off the assembly line to make sure it can work for the average consumer, rather than handing off a problem for someone else who is probably realistically expecting to get this assembled and installed in an hour.

This system was pretty easy to set up and works well
This system was pretty easy to set up and works well, but could stand a few easy improvements. First, if the clamps that connect the string to the hanging rack were on both the outside bars (joining up in the middle) rather than just the center bar, the rack wouldn't tip crazily with various weight loads on it. Second, the rack bars are pretty slick. Enough that heavier garments tend to fall off of it because if there's a weight discrepancy, they'll just slide over it. Similarly, when you bump clothes hanging on it, they can slip off. Third, the pulley system is ok, but it leaves you with a string to pull that's going to rub up against the outside edge of the rack no matter what you do (unless you've rigged it so you pull on it from 45 degrees out, but then where are you tying it up?). Just adding another pulley would have done the trick here. Fourth, you have to pull on both strings equally. This is relatively easy to solve by tying a knot in the string, but could have been done better by providing a system where both strings join up to be a single rope. All in all, I'd probably buy it again and even recommend it, but it's not a perfect system.

Good and out of the way.
I love this drying system. It is up and out of the way. We did have to buy a piece that ties into the ceiling as the original screw broke off the pulley. So I brought down the rating due to that but it is a great idea.

Wonderful solution to my laundry problem
I bought and installed two of these in my laundry room. Easy to install. I did it myself (5'5" medium frame female who knows how to find studs and use a drill) in about four hours. It would have taken significantly less time but my studs were not in appropriate places so I made 2 x 4's look nice and screwed the 2x 4 into the studs the installed the racks into the 2 x 4's. The racks are reasonably balanced considering attached to rope at only one point on each end. The bars have a perfect diameter for spacing the two ends of your garment out to dry faster. They don't take up much room in the laundry room, hold a LOT of laundry, and my entire house doesn't have drying laundry all over it anymore. I highly recommend. I wish I had them years ago.

Great Concept and well built.
I bought the Lofti for use in my condo. I have vigas for my ceiling that are 10 feet above the floor. They system worked great with them. My only comment to the company is they should provide the two drill bits for installation. I have my own drills but over time the size gets warn off and so you are left with bits of unknown size. It is critical to use the correct size for the pulley system in this product. I went to the local hardware store to make sure I had the correct size. It seems for the price of this product it should come with a bit probably costing the company $1. I love the idea and the product works fine. I put my washed bedding on the unit today and it worked great with good balance. Plastic hangars work great on the product and you can use close pins to hold the clothes on to the hangar. Great Product and very strong but light.
