I guess you could do that....but for me it would stick put from the socket too much...plus you run the risk of the weight of google pulling itself away from the adapter plug..

Does it fit the plug that comes with the home mini, I ordered two and the hole is too small so I'm returning to amazon

No it fitted but you need to place the plug in from behind and push through. It’s a bit tight but works well.
