After 1 year, would give it 6 stars
Bought a pair of these 41"x41" whelping pads a year and nearly a month ago. My use: providing a "porch" outside an older rabbit's x-pen home in our kitchen. My furry friend was leaving many pee puddles in a wide arc around his pen, a new behavior. M-a-n-y puddles. While we figured out medical and environmental and emotional things, I hoped the pads would save on disposable paper towel waste and mopping. They DID! Handsomely. Even larger puddles, provided they weren't on the pad edges, were handily contained. The unexpected benefit of using these pee pads was that my boy, who has been losing both vision and hearing (he has the classic problems of a Holland Lop -- why, oh, why were they bred with floppy ears?) now could find his way more securely around the kitchen. He figured out that it was okay to pee on the pad, whose area gave him nice tactile guidance for his location. Dog owners in other reviews mentioned their pets understood what these pads were for. My rabbit, too. If you know bunnies, you know how spatially oriented they are. Gotta check all entrances and exits frequently, and maintain that mental map! As his vision has declined, he has made a habit of going back and forth to confirm his last sure location. These large pads are perfect for a reference point in his kitchen range. Combined with (1) meloxicam from the vet to make his movements easier, and (2) two halves of a Super Deluxe Palace Pet Bed (see USAknit online; they are fabulous) inside his pen and out, these pee pads have made a HUGE difference in his toileting habits and my workload. 98% of Bunny Man's puddles elsewhere in the kitchen have ceased. He happily uses the pad in the area in front of his pen as lounging area and latrine. SLIDING/FLATNESS. Given the rabbit's weight (roughly 5 pounds), and the type of backing on this pad, there are no issues with it shifting or sliding about. I've got one 41" edge tucked a few inches under the vinyl flooring rectangle that protects the kitchen floor from his pen bottom. Because the pad lies almost flat (just some expected curving upward of the serged edges) I can swing open the hinged door to the x-pen with minimal effort to clear it. If I need to kneel down and reach inside Bunny Man's pen to do something (always nice things in his territory!) I can just fold over the pad in a diagonal triangle if it's recently moist and I don't want my knees to smell like, well, you know. CLAWS. The fabric covering is very low-nap and the stitches securely sewn enough, that we've not had problems snagging nails -- except possibly once, when I hadn't kept his well-trimmed. He might have snagged a dew claw; not the fault of the pad. Because these were not made in the USA, when I initially ordered, I was a bit concerned about quality (sorry; I've just been burned repeatedly by lowest-bidder syndrome on every imaginable consumer product). If Pet Parents stays on top of that, and these remain consistently awesome, then you'll love these pads. Yeah, I could sell them. I have given some as gifts. CLEANING. No big deal. I brush off hay bits and hair, then gently fold the pad in thirds and wash in my machine in cool or lukewarm water. I swap out the previous pad, which I've left hanging on a clippy skirt hanger so it could air dry. No dryer for these! When Bunny was more incontinent and leaving more puddles in a wider radius, I had to do this twice a week or sometimes three. Now it's once a week. Still, after a year, both pads are still in great shape. A year ago, before I got these pads, I'll admit I was going through a LOT of paper towels. It was a pain to drag out the mop for every puddle. I'm writing this on May 1, 2020, so paper towels are exceedingly hard to find at grocery stores, and I don't want to venture out to buy a new mop head, either. I am so grateful to not need either!

ABSOLUTELY WATERPROOF-THESE WORK
These work.... period. I tried another garbage Amazon brand recently because I needed a larger size. They were complete trash and not waterproof. The Pet Parents pads work 100%. We've used them a ton, we wash them all the time. I prefer to hang dry, my husband often puts them in the dryer. We've been using the same pads for at least 3+ years. These are worth it. If the dog pees on them, it stays on the pad and doesn't go off the edge unless they're partially peeing on the floor. These pads are legit. They're worth the extra few bucks. We've used these for a lot of things... Setting wet stuff on, my husband got shot in the leg and these pads soaked up all the gross stuff that leaked out as it healed, dog pee and poop obviously. We wash them all the time, I even use a small amount of bleach. They wash up great and hold up. Some of our older ones are starting to fray a bit at the edges of the plastic underside, but they're over 4 years old. They don't hold stains either, everything washes out. Buy these.

No more shredded pee pads!
(1) Resuability: These reusable pads have already paid for themselves! They are really absorbent but they do have a limit and you may find some pee stains underneath the pad when you go to pick it up. I have to wash both of them once every 1 - 2 weeks. (2) Not just for Pee: The FIRST worry I had when I saw these was what about when my dog goes #2. I was suprised at how little of an issue this was considering my dog goes #2 three to five times a day. As long as they are firm, they can be picked up without a trace and the pad can still be reused. However, if your dog is having some issues and has softer poops, you're going to want to decomission that pad and power wash it outside with a hose or in the shower/sink before you throw it into your washer. (3) Essential for chewers: I was so thankful we had these once our puppy got into a phase of tearing up any sort of paper he could get his teeth on. We had to abandon single use pee pads all together because he still bites or digs at them. However, he has been pretty disinterested in playing with the reuseable pee pads. This also helps your puppy be more hygienic while they haven't learned to lift their leg when they pee since the pad just aborbs it right away. Downsides: (4) Sizes were confusing: I ordered what I thought to be a smaller size but it ended up being really big. I just fold it (like how it is in the image) so it's not that big of an issue. It is something to consider though. (5) Washer smells bad: These have made my washer smell like dog pee. I'm not sure why this happens sometimes but it doesn't happen every time. It's pretty inconvenient to have to clean the washer after every time and just the idea of washing my clothes in the same place is offputting. I'm working on playing around with my washer settings and maybe running a stronger cleaning solution. I have also just washed these in the shower floor or outside with a hose and cleaning solution which was easier, so that may be an option to counteract this as well. All in all, these are great to have on hand. Even if you plan on using these in conjunction with single use pee pads, these will save you money in the long run since they cost essentially as much as one month of pee pads.

The best pads - until the bottom starts cracking
When I first bought these, I was so impressed I almost bought more immediately. I'm glad I waited, as an issue has presented itself over time: the bottom of these are a layer of a thin rubbery material, and after several rounds in the washer and dryer, small tears/cracks have begun to appear, which causes a small amount of leaking if my dog happens to go right over the area where a crack is. I've taken to putting a disposable potty pad underneath to catch any leaks, and the tears are small enough that very small leaks only seem to appear around 10 percent of the time. However, the cracks do seem to get larger the more I wash and dry them, and I imagine the issue will continue to get worse. Having to use a disposable potty pad under a washable potty pad sort of defeats the purpose of the whole thing. As for the good: up until the bottom layer started cracking, these really were the best washable potty pads I've tried (and I've tried a few). They're very thick and quilted, which allows for greater absorbency. They reduce odor better than ANYTHING else I've come across (there are times when I can't even tell if my dog has used them, because they hold in odor and absorb liquid so well). My dog is arthritic, and has had trouble with slipping on washable potty pads in the past as she can't get a good grip and they slide on the floor. So while the rubber bottom has proven to be a problem in its cracking, this is where it shines - it grips the floor very well so that she doesn't slip and slide. Additionally, if anyone here has used potty pads in the past, you are probably familiar with the annoying issue of overflow or leakage running over the sides of the potty pads. That doesn't happen with these. Because of the way they're stitched along the edges, plus the excellent absorption, everything surrounding the pad stays (thankfully) neat and dry. These truly would be the BEST potty pads on the market if they can just get the cracking/tearing issue of the bottom layer fixed! Even with this problem they're still a superior product to the majority of the other ones out there.

SOOOO PLEASED!
I DO NOT write reviews.... BUT....I do read a LOT of them before I make a purchase, SO....after reading the negative ones on here for these pads, I felt I needed to debunk those and agree with the company responses that they must have received defective ones (or possibly they ordered knockoffs by mistake). These are PAWFECT....get replacements and you will LOVE these! (I literally just ordered them yesterday after my research and I did not get anything free, although the price for a 2 pack is a steal, and hadn't even checked my email yet for the delivery confirmation or that email you always get from Amazon asking you to do a review the product...I'm just so happy that nothing said in those negative reviews even closely resembled what I received) Ok....The XS is just a little shorter than the doormat my older female dog was using at my front door almost every day in the wee hours of the morning before we got up to let her out....I did my research, these came up as TOP PICKS on several blogs. The price was also the lowest I found even for 1 mat and these came in a 2pk and free one day shipping with Prime. I set one out last night when they arrived....The top is very soft and she even laid on it like she does with the doormat so good sign already.... AND she had already used it when I got up this morning. It DID NOT roll off and leak onto the floor like some said, it DID NOT spill out on the floor when I picked it up(as others said)...it DID however soak it up like a diaper and I DID NOT smell anything, even when I bent down to pick it up...I could always smell the pee on the rubber backed doormat as soon as I walked in the room! The backing I can only describe as being like a very well made changing pad like what comes with an expensive diaper bag, smooth, sturdy but flexible, NOTHING like something that would shred or tear easily (like some commented), I took the one she peed on out back this morning to really test how much it can hold and I could not believe how much water I was able to put on it with the hose before the water and pee started to puddle up and flow out; this thing holds a CRAP TON of liquid and weighed a ton when soaking wet...even though I do not plan to leave it down once she has peed on it, if you have multiple dogs I would say you will be happy to find out how much this little pad soaks up! I do agree its not exactly slip proof if you're using on hard floors/surface, but as a doormat its perfect and stays put when I open and close the front door and I'll still have a place to dust feet since I will always have a clean one down during the day. My dog did pee right smack in the middle so I can't say much about those that had it leak over the edge and sit under the mat and stain the floor (except maybe check it daily and mop the floor instead of leaving a soiled mat down so long it stains your wood floor??) This thing held so much water when I went to hose it off I can't imaging how much pee there would have to be to cause a leak, so getting the right size and not leaving it down once its soiled and this is the best choice I could have made for sure. I love that its a 2 pack and the colors are neutral and don't have "doggy baby blanket" bones written all over it like most other brands I looked at. I am thrilled to have a simple effective solution to mopping up pee every morning! I just switched it out for the tan one and tossed the grey in a warm water wash...I will hang dry to extend the good sturdy waterproof backing. Thanks "Pet Parents" for the Pawfect Pads! โฅโฅโฅHappy dog mom over here in Texas!

Pleasantly surprised!
I recently purchased the Pet Parents Pawtect Grey washable and reusable dog pee pads in the 18โ x 24โ size, and they have been a fantastic addition to my pet care routine. While these pads are marketed for dogs, Iโve been using them for my bunny, and theyโve worked perfectly! Hereโs why I love them: โข Waterproof and Absorbent: These pads hold a significant amount of liquid without any leakage, offering reliable protection. โข Perfect Fit: comes in multiple sizes. โข Durable and Easy to Clean: Theyโre machine washable, which makes cleanup a breeze. I simply toss them in the washing machine and hang them to dry (though you can also use a dryer). They are gray in color, not too thick as to be bulky and despite multiple washes, they seem built to last. โข The pads function exactly as described, saving me from the hassle of disposable pads that my bunny used to chew up.Great value for the money! I will be buying more for my other animal needs. These pads are a great solution for any pet owner who needs protection from spills or accidents, whether itโs for a dog, bunny, or other small animals. Highly recommend them!

Great quality reusable pads saving my sanity
We just adopted a puppy and have been struggling with potty training. She will go potty outside, but also just helps herself to all my rugs and mats throughout the house whenever she felt the urge. We laid down the paper pads but she only saw them as toys and destroyed them the second they were put on the ground. We had to pull up all our rugs because of all the pee pee accidents. I needed a solution to bridge the gap between no accidents and accidents inside that I can accept- which is when I found these. It took our pup about a week or two to really get the hang of it, but after I blotted up some of accidents with the mat so that it had her smell on it, sheโs been pretty loyal to going on it. Iโve washed them a few times and they come out of the washing machine just like new. Iโm air drying them to prevent shrinking or warping. So far I havenโt had any issues of leaking and it seems to hold a decent amount of urine. They do tend to smell after several accidents, but havenโt had residual odor after washing. Iโm very happy with these, which is saving my floors and sanity during these young puppy days!

Best Iโve Found for Maximum Absorption
These pads are an excellent choice for a convalescing or elderly pet. Iโve used them for pet rabbits in the litterbox in place of standard litter. I line the litterbox with the pad (folded to fit the box), and put a piece of fleece bedding over it. Urine runs straight through the fleece pad where itโs collected in the Pet Parents pad. The fleece remains dry, so animals wonโt get soiled. I donโt generally trust these types of pads to absorb fast enough if they are urinated on directly, but they work great as a second layer, and this particular brand works better than any others I have tried. It is highly absorbent and, in my experience, contains any odor until the box is disassembled. This setup has accidentally lasted up to a week without changing, with no discernible odor or wetness, but thatโs the extreme. I rinse them out in the sink before putting into the washing machine, and find they wash up very well. Rinsing first and adding a soak cycle ensures that they are thoroughly cleaned. Rabbits do have a strictly vegan diet, so I wouldnโt expect as good results with cats or dogs, but itโs still a highly effective product.

much better than I expected
Pretty good products. Absorbs urine very well. I washed one with detergent and afterwards it was not absorbent anymore. So I washed it again with warm water only and it returned to normal. I recommend washing them with mild detergent.

They work!
They're absorbent. Can be machine washed on hand wash and put in the dryer on cool down for 10 - 20 mins. No more need for "paper" pee pads.

Gets pulled and folded
So so. Doesnt have weight so puppy scuttles under it or messes it up in play. Even when held down by weight of cage. Dont recommend.

Protect your fllors/rugs
Terrific. They do the job that they're supposed to do. I place a disposable wee pad on top for the added protection and training tbh. I simply throw it in the tub and hang to dry. Having two is perfect. Highly recommend ๐๐ป
