It is a heavy weight prismatic compass. It is easy too use, has scales which are easily read, dampen dial it stay in position when moved.lanyard and folds in half to protect the face. Has a good diopter and clear lines magnifying spot to read the scale. Tripod screw underneath, well made and sturdy, only downside is the weight. Otherwise superb piece of kit, clinometer is there if you need it, it folds neatly under outer cover. Range of colours light grey looks very good, painted finish is superb. Quality compass . The reading scale on the underside is too small to read. Would buy again, very good value.

The manual was a bit of a gloss over but what can you say new about a compass. This has a sighting lens built in that can be adjusted for your eyesight. Having tried a few sighting compasses i've always found them awkward to read whilst aiming and difficult to rotate too at the same time. This gives an excellent view of degree scale on the side of the floating compass wheel and i think without a doubt the best for this. The inclinometer is a bonus that a lot of rivals do not offer and very neatly built into the underside. The dial is very easy to read from above. I compared with other compasses and the needle is accurate but if it wasn't it can easily be corrected by magnet. I could say for the price this is good but really it outmatches some expensive compasses. Its a strong robust metal build but the lightness makes you think plastic- not in a bad way though. Comes with its own pouch. It does have some ruler markings on the side but they are a bit token. A very nice product

Bought this for my boyfriend's birthday trek up Helvellyn in early April 2018. As per a previous review, the inclinometer folding flap did seem pretty flimsy, and broke the first time the flap was closed. This may have been because the hinge was a bit stiff due to the very cold weather (but it should work in any temperature, right?), which meant the metal broke just above the hinge when we tried to fold the flap down. However, we must give full kudos to the seller, who replied almost immediately when I emailed them on our return, and dispatched a replacement which I received within a couple of days, with no questions asked other than to send a photo of the damage. Apart from that, all other functions and parts of the compass work well, and the replacement is fully functional, with no hinge problems. Maybe we were just unlucky with the first one, hence my 4 stars.

This is a really great compass. when you open it it lays on surfaces perfectly, it doesn't wobble, the lid is level with the base. It is a really heavy compass, and the inclination indicator is accurate as well. The adjustable ring is much more sturdy than cheaper compasses have, and the thumb ring is easy to adjust and it is not in the way at all during measurements on the map. The pouch it came in closes with a velcro which I personally prefer, but the pouch needed fixing a bit as on the side the edge was longer then the bottom of the pouch and the tread was loose. The user's manual is interesting as this compass came with two. One said "contents" and it listed many languages but English. The other user's manual was English though. However with the part list I had issues a bit. There is a big list in the English version of the parts but on the picture of the compass nothing is numbered so you have to guess, or you just use the German part of the user's manual, as on that the list is there (in german) and it is connected to the parts of the compass. I found this interesting, but overall it is not hard to figure out what is what on the compass and for the money it came for it is brilliant. Made out of metal, easy to use and it is really sturdy. I have seen simplier less sturdy compasses for double the price than this. I can only recommend this compass.

This was great and chunky although a bit weighty for my needs.

Bought this for my daughter's DoE alongside the recommended compass which was more expensive but was a win-win. She chose the compact one recommended so I appropriated this one. I'll be honest, I only walk to the shops but if I ever get lost I know which compass I want to pull out and aim the cross-hairs at the nearest hill, measuring the inclination while seeing the bearing through the lens reassuring other shoppers that I know where home is.It's very well built and the lens is very clear. The price is very reasonable and you feel your getting a piece of engineering.
