Works great as long as input voltage >5VDC
I initially encountered issues with this controller, but all is well now! I am using the BTF-Lighting 5VDC 20A power supply which does not maintain 5VDC under the load of a 5m LED strip. When voltage drops to 4VDC this controller will not respond. (This is likely not be a concern when using 12VDC LED strips.) I was able to work around the low voltage issue by powering the controller from a separate power source -- I happened to have a 6VDC power supply with correct polarity on the barrel connector. I disconnected the red LED strip wire from the controller VCC and connected the spare power leads from the same end of the strip to the power supply (white & green to the controller, white and red to the power supply). Using this controller with a SK6812 RGBW (natural white) LED strip, I am able to select any static color for the entire strip, including RGB white and natural white. There are also 200 light patterns from which to select the effect of chasing lights in multiple color options. The brightness and speed of the selected color or pattern can be adjusted. Under 'settings' you can specify the number of pixels you wish to have lit. I've seen it mentioned to always select 2048, but selecting more pixels than you have on the stip only causes the pattern speed to slow down.

Update: Defective Controller
UPDATE: Seller contacted me to solve my issue. After providing details of power supplies being used and troubleshooting efforts already completed on my part, it was determined that I had a defective unit. The seller is sending me a replacement as well as some other items. Seller was very responsive and helpful in resolving my issue. Changed from 1-star for original product to 5-stars for responsiveness of seller. ORIGINAL: It does not power the entire strip. It only powers about half the lights. The other controller I bought at least powers them all. I am also unable to connect to the controller using the app. It never detects a SP105E device in Bluetooth like the picture indicates.

Easy to Use but Poor Instructions
4-Stars only because the instructions are not suitable. You will have to do some digging online and watch a few DIY videos if you are not familiar with this type product and are just beginning to dive in. I purchased this for a solar address light I rebuilt with a three-wire cob strip. In order to find the right configuration you will have to basically match the wires coming from your LED strip to the out ports on the controller. One thing that isn’t clear is that once you download and start your controller’s app, once connected to the device you will need to go into the app setup and select the correct type strip light from the built-in scroll menu. After tinkering with it I figured it out, works great but will have to return to update on durability, connectivity, and overall functionality over time as it is yet to be verified through use, and normal product wear. Overall product-wise rating as far as working is concerned for the time being: I say 5-star because it works!

The is NOT a Spectrum Analyzer, just a poor light show on LED Panels.
First thing to note is that this is NOT a Spectrum Analyzer as advertised, it is a light show only, pretty poor one at that if you are using panels. 1. It says can do 960 pixels, well with panels it maxes out at 512 Pixels if using 2 x 8*32 (64 Segments total,) or 484 Pixels if using a single 11x44 panel. 2. The SP107e has a stereo 3.5mm Jack, but only reads the right Channel, so it is missing half the music when it should have just mixed both channels into mono. When I tried a Stereo to Mono adapter, it would not recognize any audio at all. 3. Frequency range of this is all over the place. On a panel it seems to go from about 50 Hz to about 4 KHz, and then bounce back in the opposite direction, then again and again; so you have 4 difference frequency layers displaying at the same time in the same area. (So on the left on mine it has 0hz and 10 KHz, and the Right side of the display, 10 and 20 KHz.) The SP107e should adjust the frequency table for the number of segments (Columns) that you enter in the configuration. The width of the frequency sweep on vertical pixels is allover the place too, unless you have the input volume very low, but then if you do music it is barely displayed. 4. I have two units working in stereo, and both have different settings for the same-ish results (I cannot get them exactly the same), so manufacturing tolerances seem to be horrid. One unit has to have sensitivity set to off, and the other to about 5 percent to get the same input level through the 3.5mm Jack. The Microphones are not even close on both units. Also, both units seem to operate at different speeds, making one look slow and lame. Also depending on the input level, you will have random pixels light up even when no sound is being used. Every time I power up my unit, the Right display seems to have different input levels even though nothing has changed. The app uses slider scales for colors and brightness, so if using more than one unit (which you have to set up one at a time, it is very difficult to get the same result on both units.) Should have an option for RGB value, you know for the RGB LED’s. Finally, when setting these up with the 8x32 LED panels, it says they use 75 watts each which they can if run at blinding maximum brightness. Here, my two panels and two controllers are using less than 4 watts altogether, and that is in a bright room and behind speaker cloth. Oh and the app has no mirror mode either. So you would have to flip the display if you want to use two units in stereo. Finally I have contacted the author of the app but did not get a reply back to see if the controllers are firmware upgradable through BT. I am guessing not. The two videos will give you an idea of the issues with these panels. I have no idea why these videos are being compressed so much. ** Update ** Since writing this review, I found that when first sold the SP107e was using a STM32F Arm CPU, and now they are using a much slower and less Capable GD32E230 Arm CPU which they did not mention. This is why the response time on my left panel is much faster. They do not tell anyone about this though. This is also why some configurations in the App are not allowed, because hardware divide on the new GD chip is much slower to implement. So when the new chip is only allowed 1250 ticks per pixel to calculate sound, color and all, and then is using 17 ticks per each divide compared to the STF chip which ran twice as fast and can do divide in as little as 2 ticks, it explains why the SP107e is, well not good. What companies will do to make more money without telling you.

Limited options
There are limited options. You can only choose from the preset patterns, and you have to scroll through all of them if you want to change. What I mean by that is if you want to go from one setting, say pattern #5 to pattern #44, you have to scroll through ALL of the other patterns to get to it. Very inconvenient. On top of that, there is nothing to indicate what a pattern option looks like. If I want to go from red and green chasing pattern that goes from left to right, and I want to change to a yellow and blue that chases right to left, I have no indication of what either of those patterns #s maybe (other than memorizing ALL of them). It's an okay product, it works, but it isn't a great product.

Using for an LED wearables project
Works great. I am powering 5v ws2812b’s with a 12v power bank using a step-down converter. The controller gets 12v power (saw other reviews that seemed to indicate 5v to the controller was unreliable) . I split the ground and positive wiring before the controller, also routing power and ground through the step-down, and a capacitor for the 5v lights. Everything works well! (Yay, bc this is my first time working with LED’s) The app works great (restart your phone after install) and it seems there are other apps available that are compatible with the sp105e controller. There seems to be a few different directions included with this product as how to send power to your lights using this controller. I tend to think some of the bad reviews are from people who didn’t have the wiring done correctly. Almost did not buy it, but happy I did. I would recommend doing it right by drawing yourself a wiring diagram and soldering all your connections.... but wtf do I know. I’m an Industrial Designer/ Fashion Designer, not an Electrical Engineer. I do know my client is going to be pumped when they receive their LED wearables project with bluetooth controls!! Adafruit and Stack Exchange are excellent resources for those playing around with LED’s.

Does the job really well!
Once connected and configured, it works as it should. The app picks up the controller easily, and communication between the two is very responsive. Range is pretty good as well! Tons of preset modes for you to try and find what suits your liking. App setup is really simple. You set the pixels, RGB configuration, and LED strip type.
