The first GTA of the PS3 era and coming from the bold experiment that was GTA: San Andreas it doesn't disappoint. The GTA franchise went from being merely a laddish crime-simulator through a topdown world to being the first major open-world game to exist when it went fully 3D. Ever since then there have been many imitators and derivatives—however—GTA has shown why it remains long by constantly adjusting its features and pushing not just the limits of computers and console, but of the way stories are told. GTA IV tells the story of Niko Bellic and his arrival in the U.S. from the Balkans. With Liberty City as the NYC of the GTA universe it represents opportunity, a potential escape, and a culture shock for the recent immigrant. If only the land of opportunity was all that his cousin made it out to be! Guns, cars, women, drug-dealers, crme-lords, and the perils online-dating are just a few of the things that Niko finds himself dealing with—opportunity is what you make of it. With the increased realism of the newer game engine the game starts to be able to show the difference between pretty and gritty in more subtle ways than the previous games. Cars have differences in paint finishes (standard vs. Metal fleck) and can get dirty and be washed; dents, scrapes, and distorted frames are shown in impressive detail; blood splatter from fights even shows up in clothing now! However, the most drastic changes to things are the adjustments to the driving engine, police chase engine, and fighting engine. The way that cars drive is now more than just acceleration/deceleration turning ability, and drift. You can really feel the difference between how a front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and an all-wheel drive handle at high speeds, in turns, as well as over dirt. Overall the cars handle in a manner thats slightly less arcady and just a hair more simulator in style (eg. It's always always best to brake before turning unless you want to deal with under or oversteer). Furthermore, cars feel like they now have more of a spectrum than aweful, so-so, reasonable, and awesome in terms of drivability. As for the police chases you can escape star ratings by traveling beyond the visibility zone of the police—so when new police are rushing in they might not see you due to then being a few streets away. However, once you're outside of the visibility zone you have to lay low until your wanted rating goes away. The size of the visibility zone also becomes larger as you accrue more stars—so be careful about how you approach missions or else you'll find yourself in a drawn out chase worthy of World's Scarriest Police Chases. As for the fighting engine it's now possible to switch targets to melee multiple enemies and counter attacks as to do devastating damage. Furthermore, your melee weapons are used with the fighting buttons instead of the weapon buttons like the previous games—if you want to swing your bat you hit one of the two punch buttons; it's fairly intuitive. One thing that I forgot to mention is that gunfights now allow you to stick to a barrier (wall, car, support column, etc) as cover at the press of a button! With that comes the ability to either pop out to directly fire or to stick your arm out to blind fire. That might sound gimmicky, but it does make all the difference when you're facing down 4+ enemies with automatic weapons. Overall the changes to the game aren't just a next gen visual upgrade with more detail and draw distance. The changes to the game make the game feel a lot more immersive and more like the best parts of your favourite crime films mixed with the freedom of interaction that games provide. The original open-world crime simulator remains king!

Muy buen paquete que contiene el gta iv con sus dos expansiones, además de que esta versión contiene las actualizaciones del juego que corrigen los errores de lanzamiento pero afortunadamente no contiene la actualización de abril 2018 que borra parte de la banda sonora original, por lo que es una gran opción para los que quieren disfrutar del juego con la banda sonora original solo no olviden desconectar su consola de internet para evitar que se actualice.

The few extra dollars is a small price to pay for the "Episodes from Liberty City" expansion pack content. I have to agree with the people who cannot find a way to care about the main game's protagonist Nico Bellic though. Still it is a blast to do the missions and use Horizon to circumvent the lack of a invulnerability cheat (unlike in GTA San Andreas) in this game to: become a one man army against the LCPD, fly around the map with some RPG or handheld grenade assistance, and perform the insane stunts that can be seen on YouTube. Hopefully GTA V will generate more concern for the three protagonist through the game play unlike any of it's predecessors so that players become even more engrossed in their well being, rather than rag dolls in a meat grinder. This is one of the key elements that have been lacking for me in the past games, causing a complete disregard for the outcome of the character by the end of the game. Luckily I was able to get the Xbox 360 GTA V collector's edition pre-order for less than the special edition with the many gamestop gift cards I had been saving up and promo code to be able to test whether that change has been made.

A great game at a great price :) I just love playing it
