I just got these and I don't understand how to use them. There's no striker wheel and I can't press it down all the way?

You have to press down really hard...unfortunately. Since it doesn't use a flint wheel they have to find another way to childproof it

Are the colors chosen at random, or are they the same colors every time?

The colors are great...but most of them don't work

I just purchased these and they seem to work fine. How can you tell the butane level when refilling?

Well you can't. Other then hard to light or weak flame. Remember after you fill them don't use it for 30 minutes. Because the butane is cold and will break the spring inside
