Really good introduction to scratch with simple but interesting projects and narrative

Good book, however, not for beginners. As my child just started Scratch at school - the book is difficult, but I could help me.

Perfect for my nine year old!

Our younger set just spent the entire weekend working through this book! It was fantastic and the examples are well laid out. "Game" after "game" was demonstrated for me that they had written on their own. Scratch is just drag-and-drop programming with programming "blocks" like "make a sound" and "change the color", but it also has a lot more advanced capabilities (still with the same drag-and-drop blocks) like loops, functions, etc. It's a great way for the younger set to get onboard with programming concepts without spending a lot of time typing or trying to work past syntax errors in a more traditional language. As a professional programmer, I can say that I'm impressed with Scratch, and this book really knocks it out of the park. Highly recommended. This book made it all come together for our younger set!

Great book! My son loves it.

I used this to teach an 8week homeschool co-op class. Most of the kids were able to follow along and they all had fun adding their own creative touches. The price helped me keep the class cost low as well.
