PlayStation 2 Slim Console PS2 (Renewed)

This is for the 2nd PS2 I bought. It's great, everything I expected. More compact than the first. The first was a big disappointment. It wouldn't read the disc at all, and when I picked it up and moved it, I could hear something loose rattling inside the console. I could hear the rattling noise even before opening the box it was shipped in. This is no reflection on Amazon. It's the fault of whoever did the refurbishing.

It worked good for the first couple of day. Then this morning it just started turning itself off for no reason. Love that amazon gives a 90 day return window so 1 star. The power supplies are garbage if you can get a oem power brick it works much smoother. and the brick won't fry you optic drive like the cheap ones do.

I purchased this console as I have been building up my retro/older game library. The sole reason I purchased this (initially) was because I had some PS2 games that were not running on my thick PS2 and I had read that the slim version can run those that are not running on the thicker console. The second I got this out of the box it has been my PS2 go to. It runs flawlessly and so smooth and takes me right back to my earlier years gaming on PS2.

I have a collection of old ps2 games that I never truly got to play because I had my ps2 stolen a long time ago. But after sifting through my games I decided to buy a new one. I picked one up from here and I couldn’t have been happier. The ps2 functioned perfectly without any issues. Almost like it was brand new.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Purchased a system that was looking really sharp on the outside but it worked extremely terrible. Couldn't play a game to save your life. I returned it and received a new one. The new one on the outside looked beat up but actually worked slightly better than the first. The second system had a mind of its own however freezing often and going extremely slow at the worst times. When you pay over $200 and the say its renewed you expect it to be like new for atleast a little while. I mean we get its an old system but don't lie about your product. These systems work sparingly and most should probably be sold for parts. They should be selling them at $50 or under not $182.

My console works fine and has been game tested for 4 hours. When I first tested it, the #1 memory port did not see any memory cards after I tried 2 cards. A glance into the port showed 2 connector pins were pushed down below their plastic housing. I carefully bent all the pins back up with a precision screwdriver and cleaned them with alcohol. The memory port began recognizing cards and the cards fit more snugly. If not for that, maybe I'd given my purchase 5 stars. With only 4 hours play on it, I can only verify the PS2 played games as advertised. I haven't tested the controller beyond verifying all buttons have spring to them. (I have 3 controllers.) The power supply and A/V cable both work and will be kept as spares. Delivery was fine and on time.

To begin with, I was a tad nervous after reading some of the 1 or 3-star reviews with damage or even dead roaches or bugs inside the player. However, because of the pandemic and the difficulty in acquiring a PS5, I’ve been rediscovering an appreciation for my older PS2 titles and took the chance since a majority of the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. I gave away my PS2 slim to my 7 year-old nephew at the time a little over a decade ago. I also gave away or donated most of my games to my nephew or orphanages, but I kept a few that I loved in storage. My product arrived a day before the expected arrival, and man, I forgot how small the PS2 slim model was! Mine works perfectly and there was no damage or anything. VERY MINOR scratch on the top of the player, but other than that, nothing was compromised. I unearthed my old PS2 games I kept and been enjoying those all over again, especially ones that I know will likely never be ported over digitally (or never remastered) to the newer generation consoles. If you have the extra buying power, then I HIGHLY recommend this. I’d also recommend buying a couple of memory cards, an extra controller (if you like) and the PS2 HDMI converter/adapter in case your TVs don’t support those classic, colored, Audio-Video (AV) component cables. So I purchased that too separately to enjoy my games with an HD experience! Thank you! It’s been the best!

Everything came in tact except for the remote. The right analog stick gets stuck in any direction you move it in. So now I will have to buy a new remote bc this one is useless.
