Last year Suds was a Third Grade Angel , but now... it's time to be a Fourth Grade Rat ! Fourth graders are tough. They aren't afraid of spiders. They say no to their moms. They push first graders off the swings. And they never, ever cry. Suds knows that now that he's in fourth grade, he's supposed to be a rat. But whenever he tries to act like one, something goes wrong. Can Suds's friend Joey teach him to toughen up... or will Suds remain a fourth grade wimp? Now with brand-new illustrations, this sequel to Jerry Spinelli's Third Grade Angels is a classic story of fitting in (or not) and friendship. Review: Funny easy read that actually keeps kids interested - This book worked really well for my child. The print is clear and the chapters are short, so it is not overwhelming for kids who are still getting comfortable with reading on their own. The pages turn quickly because the story feels real and the situations are exactly what kids deal with in school. My child laughed and stayed engaged the whole time which is rare for books at this level. The pacing is fast and the chapters have just enough action to keep them moving without losing focus. The paper quality is good and the size of the book is comfortable for kids to hold. It is a great choice if you want something that encourages reading without it feeling like homework. Simple, funny, and very relatable for this age group. Review: Love this book - Love this book ! Son enjoyed

📚 3rd grader read this book for reading counts points.
The book was okay bought for my 8 year old son, he needed a break from the I survived series with something light hearted and fun, it took some time for him to start enjoying the book. I thought the story and language had an odd flow, the dialogue was strange and confusing at times. I think it had an interesting idea but just didn’t work. I also didn’t like how it used improper grammar and language in the set up of dialogue, I get that it’s trying to sound like kids are talking to each other, it bugged me. It had a good lesson, to be yourself and not care what others think of you, so I might be delving too deep into my criticism but I’ve read a lot of crap with my son and I felt I needed to express this.

Great gift for a child going into fourth grade
My husband teaches English and is always ahead of the book trend curve. He always gifts our kids a book the last day of summer to be encouraging. This year he chose this book for our daughter going into fourth grade. It made her giggle reading the title and she dove right into reading it. She says it’s an easy read and has kept her interest. I’d recommend for anyone looking for a similar gift for their kids.
