Some hiccups at first but overall a great adapter.
Some hiccups at first but works great now. I was able to connect my PS4 controller to the classic, change the regions back to NTSC instead of PAL using only this adapter and a PS4 controller, and games are so much better to play. Some things that Iโve ran into and that Iโve heard other people having issues with: 1) When I initially paired my PS4 controller to the adapter, none of the hot keys worked (ps button for reset, button combo for emulator settings) or the classic would say โunable to recognize controllerโ. I fixed this by disconnecting the PS4, controller, using a paper clip to hit the rest button on the back of the controller, and reconnecting it to the adapter. Itโs been fine and havenโt had that issue ever since. 2) A mouse cursor appears over some menu and games. If I see it, it always disappears for the rest of the time I have the PlayStation on if I unplug the adapter and plug it back it. Iโm assuming theyโll prob fix this in a firmware update for the adapter so not a big deal. Overall if youโre considering this for your classic, Iโd say itโs well worth the money, made the classic much more playable.

Almost Perfect with a MAJOR flaw
I have trusted 8Bitdo to make high quality gaming peripherals many times and they have never disappointed, including with this device. I used it to hook up my WiiU Pro controllers to my Switch that have desperately needed some use. After ironing out quirks with installing firmware updates, syncing my controller, and sleeping the console, everything works perfectly. The joysticks have analog inputs, buttons are mapped correctly, and I don't miss the rumble (too much). ***However, the oversight of not being able to plug two of these adapters into the front of the dock or at least one inside the dock may be a huge deal-breaker to some people. To achieve this involves a USB extension cable that has a thinner plug, which will make the whole setup unwieldy.*** Despite this, as a single unit the device works exactly as intended and you will not be disappointed by its compatibility and ease of use. I'd recommend it to anyone that wants to save a bit of money by using their leftover WiiU Pro controllers.

Cant go wrong with 8bitdo
I got this to easily use my ps4 controllers on my pc wirelessly without having to mess with janky drivers like DS4Windows and others. Complete plug and play, works flawlessly. Plug into your pc, put it in and your controller in pair mode, and it just connects and works. The 20 bucks was worth not having the headache to configure everything, especially if you dont already have onboard bluetooth as it is. switching between modes (xbox, ps4, switch, xinput) is quick, easy and seamless. I have had this thing for a few years and its never given me an issue.

Works great with a DualShock 4
Short answer: If you have a PS4 controller laying around this Bluetooth adapter works great with it. I bought this so I can play from my couch and not have to sit directly in front of the tv do to the short wires on the controllers that came with the classic. Pairing the PS4 controller was a breeze as all you have to do is press the pairing button on the adapter then press and hold share and PlayStation home button on the controller until the light bar starts flashing. Occasionally a mouse cursor will appear on the screen which can be annoying but to get rid of it is pretty simple. Just unplug the adapter out of the ps classic and plug it back in and it should make the cursor disappear. After your first pair to the Bluetooth adapter, all you have to do is press the PlayStation button on your controller to get it working. This works with other controllers too but I only use it with a ds4. Pro tip: before even using the adapter, update the firmware on it by visiting 8bitdoโs website.

Worked great to add my PS4 controller to my Switch
I use this to connect an extra PS4 controller for use on my Switch. That has been amazing for large group games with my family when we need an extra controller, or when I want a familiar button layout for games like Breath of the Wild. This has saved me from needing to purchase another expensive Pro controller! My big caution is to be careful when updating the firmware. I assume that newer was better and immediately updated the firmware from the 8Bitdo website. That actually broke the thing for me, but it was quickly fixed by (randomly) picking an other firmware to flash using their easy tool. What I should have done was just not messed with it and left good enough alone to being with!

Xbox One Controller tips
With the help of 8bitdo's support I was able to get this working properly after I started off with issues. Here are some tips for others who might have the same problems I had. #1: Make sure you have a Bluetooth-supported Xbox One controller. If it's a wireless model, and the plastic area surrounding the "Xbox guide" button is the same color as the rest of the face of the controller, you have a Bluetooth enabled controller. If the plastic area surrounding the "Xbox guide" button matches the color of the top of the controller (L/R and LT/RT bumpers and triggers), you have an older model that does not support Bluetooth. #2: Update the firmware of the 8bitdo wireless adapter. I recommend you avoid the "Firmware updater" tool and instead get the correct firmware directly installed by going to support dot 8bitdo dot com, then click "Firmware" then click the download link next to the newest version of firmware for this adapter (under Retro Receiver / USB Adapter section). In order to put the 8bitdo wireless adapter into a mode where it will accept a firmware update, you need to FIRST hold down the sync button at the end of it (the only button there is), and while holding that button, put it into a free USB port on your computer, and when it starts flashing GREEN, you can let go. Once you correctly run the firmware updater in the zip file (extract it first), you may need to unplug and plug it back in. #3: Update the firmware on your Xbox One Controller. You unfortunately NEED to do this using either an Xbox One or a Windows 10 PC. Go to the Windows Store and download an app called "Xbox Accessories". Plug in your controller using a USB cable and it will take you through the firmware update process. #4: Set the mode properly. For Windows, you will want to use either X-Input mode (more modern, Microsoft preferred), or D-Input mode (wider adoption, recommended for emulators). Here's how to set the mode. (SELECT is the button with two boxes overlaying each other located just to the bottom-left of the Xbox Guide button): X-Input: press and hold SELECT + UP for 3 seconds. D-Input: press and hold SELECT + LEFT for 3 seconds. Hope this helps you - my issue was #3. Once I got it working it did exactly what I wanted it to do - wireless gaming on Windows 7. I wish they had kept the button mappings the same as a wired Xbox One controller, but that's negligible.

Frustrating and unintuitive setup, TERRIBLE wireless signal strength & range
Do not buy - waste of time and money. I bought this with the intention of using it with my Switch Pro Controller to game from across the room instead of having to sit in my chair. The instructions that come with it are completely useless and you have to go online to find any actual help getting the thing to work. It took me over 40 minutes to get working, between having to download a program to update the firmware, get the program to recognize the adapter, install the CORRECT firmware (despite the gray and orange versions having different firmware, you have to use the orange one or it doesn't work at all), get it to connect to my controller, and then get the controller to actually be usable with Steam or any other program. The official support website is unhelpful (to get my controller in XINPUT mode, you have to hold the - (minus) button and up for 3 seconds; the website says, "Button + Up" in its instructions). When all of that was said and done, and I finally got it working with my PC, I sat down ~9 feet across the room and tried to play a game. Cue massive delays in button input and before I could even hit "start game", it had disconnected. This was in a USB 3.0 slot on the front of my computer, with nothing but air between me and it. And I know its not the controller, because the same controller works perfectly fine across the same and greater distance from my Switch in it's dock. I am refunding the product because it is clearly unfit for PC wireless gaming.
