Great timer for pond fountain
I use this to control my pond pump. Super easy to set on off times. You set 2 times. One for on and one for off. You can set, I think 15 pairs of times. The times can be for a certain day, weekend, weekday or everyday. There are 6 different modes: 1) on: always on; 2) on/auto: turns on immediately and auto shut off at next scheduled off time; 3) on/random: turns on immediately and shuts off at a random time around the next scheduled off; 4) off: always off; 5) off/auto: turned off and turns on/off at next scheduled times - this is the mode you want for it to follow the schedule exactly; 6) off/random: turned off the turns on/off around your next scheduled times. What I do is have 2 times per day when my fountain comes on. If I want it on at other times, I change the mode to on/auto so it will turn off at the next scheduled off time. It can turn on or off at dusk or dawn, but you cannot say turn off 30 minutes after on at dawn. I'm not sure how that my off time ended up being after the on time. I guess I assume it would turn on and not off again until next scheduled off time so you would have to keep updating the off time. Other than that, I love it,

Works perfect. Easy set up & increments sunrise suntset perfectly. Plus can do more complex On/Off multiple times a day.
Doing perfect job. I have sunlight sensor on my transformer to turn on and turn off 25 LED landscape lights. Worked fine on new landscape but when Yuletide Camellia has grown and sun angle getting low or cloudy day they never go off because location of sunlight senor it is always little too dark so lights staying on 24 x 7 especially on cloudy days. I ordered this device, programed it according to instructions now lights come on at precise Sunset per Weather Channel and go Off at precise sunrise. During the setup process instructions you set the Year Month Day and Time plus there is a map you designate your region location (longitude impacts sunrise/sunset) and enter current day sunset time you can get from Weather Channel app. Then it increments the daily Sunset Sunrise perfectly in sync with that reported by the Weather Channel app. Saves electricity as well as reduces the hours on LED lamps. Granted they use lower power and have long life. But the LED long life part is theoretical 10,000 hours and not actual and they are expensive to replace so no need them being on during the day.

Feels quite solid and sturdy. The instructions cover all the features
This timer works very well and appears to be very well made. Feels quite solid and sturdy. The instructions cover all the features, but are hard to follow. I found programming it to be quite easy, once I understood it. I suppose it depends - some people didn't have any trouble programming their VCRs, while others stuggled. I could could always program my VCR :-) It allows you to review all the on/off events, and change any single one - so if you make a mistake there is no need to redo the entire program. You should carefully review the on/off events after you think you have it programmed correctly to verify. In my first attempt I accidentally had an extra event that caused it to turn on a midnight. It can operate without the battery as long as it plugged in. So I suppose you could change the battery without it losing the programming by keeping it plugged in.

Good timer, not particularly easy to set up.
I bought this timer for a very specific purpose. I need to be able to turn on (and off) a waterfall pump every day - but only for a very short cycle during the winter (when I don't actually want to pump much water, for other reasons). Ideally, I needed a timer that would work for motors and would allow a "duty cycle" of only a few seconds - just enough to keep our under ground, under water, pump impeller-shaft lubricated. But, I couldn't find anyone selling a consumer timer (low cost) that would do that. This timer has the ability to turn on, then off, in only one minute cycles. You can do seven such cycles - which was enough for me (one a day). It is designed for outdoor use and has battery backup (although I don't yet know how well that will work during mid-winter freeze). I only give it four stars because setting up the timing shifts is not particularly easy nor intuitive. You have to pay close attention to which buttons you are pushing at which time - or be prepared to start over. (They should study Orbit sprinkler timers which are much more intuitive to set.)

As an astronomic timer, this product is a fraud
Unlike the Intermatic HB800RCL, which did true astronomic calculations of sunset and sunrise time, the HB880R not only does not come close to calculating the right time, it apparently uses a stored table of times to approximate sunset and sunrise times. When I first installed in on April 6, 2021 with daylight savings enabled, it said that sunset was at 6:19 pm, whereas actual sunset according to NOAA was at 7:39 pm, an hour and 20 minutes different. Similarly it said that sunrise on April 7 was at 5:16 am, whereas actual sunrise was at 6:44 am. an hour and 28 minutes different. From April 6 to April 10, the H880R said that sunset was at 6:19 pm each day, and then from April 11 to April 20 it said that sunset was at 6:32 pm each day. Similarly from April 7 to April 10 it said that sunrise at at 5:16 am, and then from April 11 to April 20 it said that sunrise was at 4:58 am each and every day. Starting April 21 it said that sunrise was at 4:40 am each day. According to NOAA, at this time of year sunset and sunrise times change by about a minute per day, so obviously the H880R is not doing any astronomic calculations. By the way, to monitor the H880R, I connected it to desk lamp and used a motion detection camera that would automatically send an email upon whenever the lamp turned on or off.

Programmable timer
Got this to replace a broken one for my Christmas lights. This thing is so easy to use. I found a youtube video showing exactly how to program the timer. The directions it comes with are lacking. It has worked fabulously and I know use it the rest of the year for my landscape lighting. I am not sure if it is completely waterproof but mine is mostly covered by and awning.

Inexpensive, Robust, Digital Timer
I bought this to run my Christmas lights this year due to my outdoor mechanical timer no longer working. I bought this because it looked the most robust for the money and had dual grounded outlets. There have been no issues for the 3 weeks it has been running and we have had several days of rain. I am probably only running about 2 amps through it, but I would feel comfortable operating it within its limits. As some users have mentioned, programming is not as intuitive as other units (I have an indoor digital timer from another company that is very intuitive), but the included directions were easy enough to figure it out. One user review has even better directions on Amazon. There are plenty of options to select from and I like that it can have dusk and dawn times update based on location. I also like that you can easily mount this to a wall or fence with two screws or nails. The one negative is that it did not include mounting screws. Overall I would recommend this if you need a solid outdoor timer.

Just what I needed ... if you can get one to work for more than a year or so
I bought this to control the power to a low voltage transformer/timer for low voltage lights. The timer in my transformer stopped working but the transformer still worked so buying an outdoor timer was cheaper than replacing the transformer/timer. This using works just like other digital Intermatic timers. It programs the same way so if you don't like the way the others program then you won't like this one either. I personally like it because of the number of programs and the options for all days, week days, weekends, or specific days as well as the ability to automatically adjust for daylight savings time , turn on or off at sunup or sundown, and the Random function whereby it can execute the program randomly +/- 15 minutes of the programmed time to give the house a lived in feel and not be at the exact same time every day. It was a little more expensive than others I considered but the DST and sunup/sundown options were important to me. Just dropped the rating to 4 from 5 stars because timer uses a AA battery instead of an internal rechargeable battery. AA battery burns out and you lose all your settings. Dropping the rating another star for reliability issues. For God's sake Intermatic, its an outdoor timer. Redesign it so that it can last more than a year in the sun and rain and charge 5 bucks more. So tired of having this go bad in a year or two.

An excellent timer.
This unit is the best of any timer I've used. It is clearly organised, the programming is easy and straightforward, and it is very dependable. I have no issues with it at all.
