Does the infrared really work or is it just a gimmick?

I think it works. It says not to leave the dryer blowing on one area too long and when I set it down and left it blowing on my skin in the same place it seemed to get much hotter than a normal dryer would after a short time. We have noticed that drying times are definitely reduced as well.

Will this dryer work on 220 voltage?

The Revlon 1875w Infrared hair dryer will not work on 220voltage and do not operate in a 220voltage.

Hi Audrey,It sounds the same as the typical hair dryer. Less noise on the lower setting and somewhat more noise on the higher setting.The dryer has 2 heat settings, hot and warm and 2 air flow settings, high and low. If you are sensitive to sound, you may want to put the air flow on the lower setting and put the heat setting on hot. In addition, because of the infrared heat technology, it dries the hair rather fast, so you will not have to contend with the noise, either way, for very long. I've been using it since December, 2015 and highly recommend it.

Can I use it in Europe? Does it have dual voltage?

This hair dryer will not work with 220V. You'll need to buy a voltage converter to use for 220V. I bought this voltage converter for my suggestion: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B8YMRJL It works perfectly fine in Europe.
