“This was a journey of nostalgia. I was swept up in memories of first love, first heartbreak, and healing, all within the span of one evening.” — Courtney Peppernell – Author of Pillow Thoughts I met you at dusk. We loved till midnight. Then, you left me. 2am found me at my lowest. When the sun came up, I dried my tears, found my strength, and went on with my day. The poetry of 2am Thoughts condenses an entire relationship with its untamed emotions and experiences to a single day. As the long hours of the night drag on, so does the love, heartache, and loss. When the dawn breaks, the morning sun brings acceptance, healing, and recovery. Check out Makenzie's other hit poetry collections, Nineteen, Rooms of the Mind and Self Portrait. Review: Feels Like Late-Night Conversations - 2am Thoughts is one of those poetry books that feels like reading someone’s private notebook. The writing is simplistic but raw and emotional, and a lot of the pieces feel like the kind of thoughts you have late at night when everything hits a little harder. It’s easy to flip through, and the shorter poems make it a quick read, but you still end up thinking about certain lines after you close the book. What I like most is how relatable it is. The author touches on heartbreak, healing, self worth, and the quiet moments in between. Nothing feels overly complicated or dramatic it’s just honest, which makes it really easy to connect with. If you’re someone who enjoys modern, diary style poetry with raw emotion and straightforward writing, this is a great book to pick up. It’s also a nice choice for anyone who wants something comforting to read at night or keep on a bedside table. Review: Great Read - Loved this book. Gices great insight and really opens your eyes.

unexpectedly relatable
Because it’s nearly 2AM and I’m in my feels, I thought a poetry book would help me settle down. Instead, Campbell pulled me into a “day” in her poetry journal, connecting to her story of finding love and losing love and discovering self love instead, and it felt extremely and unexpectedly relatable. So many of the poems and quotes struck home and it was perfect for what I needed. Will be reading again at 2AM sometime.

The PROGRESSION
When I first opened this book, I read a couple of poems featuring a girl who felt incomplete and empty without her former lover. This girl was depressed and adamant to get this man back. But as the pages turned and the poems kept coming, the girl found acceptance in herself and realized that she wants love...but doesn't need anyone to feel whole. That made my heart soar. This is a perfectly paced read with many painful and inspirational poems that I will keep inside my my soul for years to come. Great first collection!

It’s okay.
I’m still reading the book, I don’t love it, therefore I’ve been reading it slowly. It’s not terrible, just not what I hoped for. Some people might like the poems more than others, I think it speaks to people differently according to their own journey and story.

Wow!
I liked how the author used a journaling format and free verse to work through a wide range of thoughts and emotions. In my opinion, her ability to use words, images and evoke emotions from a reader was excellent! I think the term Wow, aptly applies!

Very beautiful
Not much to say besides wow. It's a short read, I read in about an hour and I read slow, so take that as you will. This book is a roller-coaster of love, pain, realization, more pain, more realization, and finally release and moving on. Good book for someone who lost someone or broke up with someone either recently or is still holding on to pain from it. Loved this book -Mel
