Works great - far superior to the alternatives
I had used this for a few years and found it to be effective and relatively easy to work with. But people kept talking about Bondo and Bondo-like fillers, so I thought I'd give them a try. What a mistake - they're incredibly malodorous and have a ridiculously short working time (by the time I mixed it thoroughly I only had a couple of minutes working time!). When you're repairing rotten wood, you need time to get it into the cracks and mold it to shape - a few minutes won't do. When I came back to the Abatron system, it was like heaven. Sure, it takes some experience to learn the ins-and-outs of working with it, and it doesn't adhere to surfaces without quite a bit of manual labor, but the fact that it barely has an odor, is very sandable, and holds up over time, makes it worth the expense. Sometimes you have to try the alternatives before you know what you really have!

Great product but some adviceโฆ
Repaired a rotted hot tub base. It was easy to work with this product. I found I needed extra latex gloves (about 4 extra pair for my job) and some patience in molding the wood filler. Word of caution โฆ mix the wood filler in small batches as you go because if you donโt use it fast enough, it heats up after mixing the two parts together and hardens surprisingly quickly. But, I would recommend using this product. Very happy with the results even though it was a bit pricey.

Awesome Product
I'm 76 years old and have seen quite a few products completely fail my expectations. But this one, just totally surprised me. I was expecting to cut and splice some of my facia boards because of the end rot and thought I would try this. Wow, is all I can say. I watched the YouTube video and then read the enclosed instructions. Really straight forward. It actually made the wood stronger. Drill holes and inject the liquid epox behind the rot area. Used a throw away paint brush and cut the bristles down halfway so the bristles were stiffer. Dab liquid all into open area and then when tacky, put the solid mix in the holes. Just painted over the damage yesterday, cannot tell any difference. Definitely a really great product.

Performs as expected but instructions could be clearer
We got this to repair some rotted wood siding. Even though the package was undamaged, the two cans slightly leaked in the product's box. The metal plugs in the cans appear to be less that liquid tight, even though it is extremely difficult to remove them for product use. The instructions are somewhat contradictory, saying to allow the wood restorer to sit (after mixing) for a certain period of time so that doesn't get tacky, but a different instruction says to apply the putty to the restorer when it is tacky. Maybe having one clear set of instructions instead of one sheet of instructions in the box and another set on the box would help. Other than that, the restorer seems to have done its job and the putty, though very light and fluffy while mixing, dried extremely hard and can be drilled, nailed and screwed into as advertised. So far we have only done relatively small areas (no bigger than 12"x1") of rotted or missing wood siding, but the results are great so far. When the weather warms again we will be repairing a very large area and we'll see how that goes. For now, we certainly recommend this product for anyone who need to repair/replace damaged wood and don't want to go through the hassle or expense of total replacement.

Excellent product. Performed better then expected
Excellent product. Performed better then expected. Needed it to repair some rotted and loose wood. Had a storm door that got caught in the wind and "ripped" the screws and mounting mechanism that attached to the wooden door frame right out of the frame along with a long piece of wood about an inch wide at the bottom to 1/2 inch wide at the top and 7 inches long, 3/4 inch deep. Rather then replace the entire exterior door and frame (which would have been very expensive as the door has decorative glass panels) I used this product to fill the new gaping hole. If you have not used this product, simply mix the two components in equal amounts. It creates what feels like a light "foamy" material. Upon first use, I thought this stuff will really not work so I mixed the material, filled in the bad spot of the door, and also made a "foam" ball to see how it would be in the morning. The next day, the ball was still light, however, hard as a rock. I was quite surprised. The material put into the gaping hole in the door frame hardened as well and it adhered quite nicely. I took a pad sander to it and sanded it smooth. Then primed and painted it and you can't even tell a repair was made. I have also used this to fill in an area of rotted plywood flooring and again, it worked great. I like the fact that is it pliable, sort of like Play-Doh, and you can mold and shape it. Bottom line is I found a product that I really like and will again as it works great. My background is also in home remodeling and I can think of 1000 uses for this product. Reviewed by G. Swanson.

Abotron Wood Restoration Kit
I had a home with several window frames that was rotten at the bottom of the frames. I purchase the Abatron Wood restoration kit and repaired my windows. I took my time doing the windows and to be honest you could not tell they were repaired. This stuff saved me several thousand dollars. A year later I sold the home and the home inspection mention how well the windows look for the age of the home. Strongly recommend Alatron Wood Restoration Kit. Easy to work with.

Follow the directions. Read them twice and watch some videos of other users.
Donโt despair. I had a very extensive repair of exterior surfaces on patio doors and sidelight windows. The images are the worst of the (4). The areas are very exposed to weather/wind and sun. I previously repaired them with Bondo and other products found at home improvement stores. A few years later, a second more extensive repair was needed. Similarly, the โNON-epoxyโ type wood hardeners offer limited results. If youโre debating using โBondoโ, Plastic Wood, or similar for extensive damage in a weather exposed area, please read this and look at the images. My process: To harden the soft damaged wood, I used Abatron liquid wood. It is easy to use, absorbs into the wood and hardens it very nicely. I โstitch drillโ holes around the damaged/undamaged margins. This helped insure I had penetrated and contained the damage. I also painted the liquid wood onto exposed weathered areas to fill open grain cracks and reinforce the surface of weathered areas. With the extensive damage and surface material lost, I began rebuilding the area with Gorilla Glue; the type that reacts with moisture and expands. This was done so the glue would expand and follow any unseen voids. It did and expanded through seams in the construction to the interior house surface, into damage voids and exited out the stitch drill holes. I also โpaintedโ Gorilla Glue onto the exposed damage and mixed sawdust in. This โpainted glueโ expanded; filling and coating the damage area. Once this was done, I then used the Abatron putty epoxy. It works well, but had a tendency to stick to my putty knife and pull. I ended up pressing and working it with my hands. One source stated they applied WD40 to the putty knife, but I didnโt as I was concerned about contaminating the epoxy and interfering with adhesion. The dried epoxy sanded very similar to pine. To fill remaining surface imperfections and apply a thin coat, I thinned the putty epoxy outer coats with the liquid wood. A consistency like yogurt worked great for this. I was able to rebuild the doors and windows to an invisible repair. The $150 kit and another $50 worth of other materials saved a potential several thousand replacement of those doors and windows.

Good overall product.
Good quantity - for the price. Clear instructions and easy to use. We bought this product to restore 70 year old wagon wheels. We found this product in stores but the quantity was much less and we would be spending more money trying to buy the amount needed. The wood was very brittle when we got the wagon wheels - the liquid epoxy absorbed well and did a great job of hardening the wood. We have yet to stain/paint.

and the Woodepox will dry much sooner so must be quick to put it on and shape to whatever you like. Woodepox is easy to handle
It works very well. The Liquid takes long time to dry, and the Woodepox will dry much sooner so must be quick to put it on and shape to whatever you like. Woodepox is easy to handle, however, need to prepare a lot of disposable gloves for Liquid. Overall, good product to fix old furniture and windows and doors.
