The 'Land of Blue Sky' is one of the few places on earth where travellers can tread on undiscovered ground and explore with a true sense of adventure. Homeland of Genghis Khan, vast tracts can be discovered on horse or camel, or in the comfort of a four-wheel drive. This updated guide highlights Mongoliaโs culture and customs including the deel, the colourful national dress, herding rules and customs, Mongolian throat singing and Naadam, the annual celebration of wrestling, archery and horse-riding. The guide offers tips on riding and biking tours, winter dog sledding and summer yoga camps and provides in-depth information on national parks and conservation as well as reviewing the many new hotels and restaurants. Review: A wonderful book. I am also finding "Mongolia - A wonderful book. I am also finding "Mongolia: Discover the Real Mongolia," a travel guide written by former Peace Corps Volunteers Nathan Chamberlain, Leslie Chamberlain, Ashlee Christian, and Andrew Cullen (Other Places Publishing, 2012), to be very helpful, as it presents a less establishment view of practicalities than does Blunden's book. By contrast, Blunden includes more history and context. Review: Great Guide - Excellent practical guide. I haven't been there yet, but this book seems to have everything covered.

Good but no Lonely Planet
Good on culture and background histort, clearly well researched but no match for the Lonely Planet as a good travelling companion

I was very disappointed with this as a guidebook
I was very disappointed with this as a guidebook. It does not give guides to most of the sites I visited - even important sites like Onghin Khid and Tovkhon monasteryies are omitted. The map of UB was inaccurate too. If you want amusing anecdotes about Mongolia, buy this book: if you want hard facts go for the Lonely Planet instead.
