It finally gave up. I got another original Chi, but it seem to have lost its original quality. So I returned it. I got a titanium plate flat iron, but it dried my hair, a Lot. (Note: ceramic plates distributes heat better than titanium, and glide smoother, damaging hair less on the long run). So, I searched for days until I came across this hidden jam of $15!!! I went to the website and noticed that the companys' products had good ratings. The description of this product looked fishy, with a lot of typos and grammatical errors. I went with my gut and got one to try...$15... why not, right? This is the overall review: 1). The buttons do not interfere at all when doing my hair. They are inside so you can't press them and change temperatures accidentally, which is great! 2). The plates glide so smooth it is incredible!!!! Not kidding. Even softer than the Chi! I compared them side by side. 3) the maximun heat is very high, which means I have to use less than 450' even though that is what I was used to using with the Chi. For some reason it feels hotter to me. 4). The plastic display button works fine, but it bothers me to the touch sometimes. It does not seem fragile, like it would break, and I have pressed it hard to test. But still, it makes me consider the possibility of breakage sometimes. 5). My hair comes out great! I use heat protection conditioning before each glide, and it make it look and feel super soft. 6). The handle does not get hot, at all. 7). The cutting is not plastic, per say. It feels different, like a thing rubber layer that feels great to the touch. 8). Easy to clean after use. I ordered another pair, just in case mine goes up in price. I hope it lasts me years to come, but just in case I got two. After all, $30 is nothing compared to $100 of the Chi and babyliss. This is truly a great product.
