I am an average home user. Before I purchase a tool, I ask many questions of myself like how long will it last, what material is it made of , what use will it be to me (sometimes impulse takes over and I manage and I IMAGINE many uses that it will be to me in FUTURE, which sometimes remains imagination only). I thank reviewers from my heart because they helped me take a decision. Without reviewers I would not have been able to purchase tools online. Coming to this Dewalt cordless power tool, It was difficult for me to search for 5” inch discs and after much search and after searching quite a while, I also purchased a 4 ½” metal cutting disc, and a 5” marble cutting disc. Here the market has mostly 4” discs. I had read that discs that do not shatter should be purchased for safety and reducing risks of injury. While trying to fit the disc (I am not sure which of the two above it was), I noticed something and the sequence of steps may be seen in the following steps: 1. The disc was not fitting snugly. (photo 1). 2. I removed both the flanges, placed the disc on the spindle, and placed the flanges over the disc. (photo 2) 3. I felt awkward inside, and thought something was in not in order. I consulted the manual, and saw the the disc should be between the two flanges. (photo 3). 4. I again removed the disc, and when the disc was removed, I saw a sort of ring partly protruding from the disc. I took it out and to my surprise the disc now snugly fitted (photo 4 and 5). 5. I was also confirmed from Google search (photo 4A). The sound of the cordless is less compared to the corded variety (video). One has freedom from wires, extension cables, and from a power cut. No wires means it can be carried anywhere, and we can work in relatively tight spaces. A problem which I noticed was that many a time it took some time to start. As it is less noisier than the corded version, the noise is not that irritating. It is a review from someone new to such tools, and only after using it for a short time, mainly in rounding off corners of flower beds made of brick and mortar.

Generally not impressed with dewalt anymore the quality has gone down hill from 10 15 years ago. Just feels cheap tat now days.

Really pleased with mine. For smaller jobs like cutting through bolts etc my 5A DeWalt batteries last quite a long time. I decided to review this DeWalt battery powered angle grinder after using it for a while which is a thing I usually do with more expensive tools. It is a very well made quality power tool. I really like the allen key method of changing a cutting / grinding disk because it is safer. Those standard keys with two small pins often slip and then you can scrape your knuckles. This allen key method is an improvement on speed and safety. When using the angle grinder for continuous work I discovered my two 5.0 ah deWalt rechargable batteries (my own – they were not supplied with the grinder) were more than adequate for removing a damaged old rendered section from my gable end wall. At no point did I run out of battery power and have to wait for another battery still charging. While cutting steel however, depending on the thickness of the steel and the amount of cuts required, you may find it depletes the battery power very quickly. I needed to cut through one 30mm x 6mm flat bar and I did not manage it on a single fully charged 5.0 ah DeWalt battery. So if you are cutting several you can expect a point where you are wasting time waiting for batteries to charge, therefore faced with that senario I would probably get my old 240v plug-in 4” angle grinder on the job. But that is an unusual situation for a diyer like me. Usually I just need to cut through a bolt or a thinner piece of bar and on masonry like pavers, tiles or bricks it will go through them like butter (with the correct disk) and the battery charge will last depending on the material composition. Concrete with pebbles would be more challenging that bricks or pavers. Also don’t forget the convenience of not having power leads all over the place causing trip hazards and limiting movement. Portable battery powered tools are a fantastic success story. I am now a pensioner and as a kid I would watch my father drill into brick by hammering a thin pointed chisel type thing while rotating it. It was an early rawl plug kit that came with fibre rawl plugs and that rotate and hammer tool was top spec those days. Getting back to the DeWalt angle grinder. The support handle has a really good grip and can be screwed in either side of the head depending on a person being left or right handed. There is a button on the head of the grinder to lock the disk from rotating while removing /replacing it. Also the fabricated steel disk safety shield is adjustable with a spring held button. This is a top quality power tool. It looks great. It is very durable and I will not be lending it out to anyone. Nor will I leave it in my shed.

Richtig geiles Teil. Bin voll überzeugt und zufrieden. Beste Flex, die ich je hatte! Hab erst wegen des Preises gehadert, aber das Geld habe ich nach wenigen Wochen vergessen und freue mich einfach jedes Mal, wenn ich das Ding in die Hand nehme.
